Today my company is saying goodbye to our ex-owner. We are having a nice luncheon right about now. He sold the company to a multi-national a year ago and his contract is up. If I had my choice I would stick with him. It takes so long to get anything done now. Meetings after meetings and no decisions being made.
So what says the gang?
I say TGIF! Also, I had no catered lunch…in fact, I have no lunch. (whine)
Slowness due to multiple levels of approval and agreement from depts/people you didn’t know had any responsibility or expertise (and don’t) for the tasks/items you need.
Welcome to my world.
Going from a nimble company to one swimming in mud is tough to get used to.
Yeah it was certainly for me. I went from Telecom to Pharma and a whole host of GMP regs and various national regulatory bodies (to be fair, there are very good reasons for the slow as molasses regs as the industry has harmed people while fast tracking drugs.) It’s a tough go. I’m still not used to it either.
I did exactly the opposite. Went from a hidebound, creaky, poorly run non-profit association to a small company that wants to make money. The difference is stunning. No meetings, no discussions, my boss gives me an assignment, I do it, he looks it over, and it’s up on the website 30 minutes later.
It used to take me weeks or months to get stuff on the website at my last job.
Right wing psychopaths keep calling bomb threats into the main campus of my employer. Why do you ask? Because they keep eating up a bunch of bullshit in their social media bubbles about how we’re performing forced sex changes on children.
I can’t begin to fully express the depths of my hatred for Republicans.
You mean this?

Exactly that. These fuckers all need to die and the sooner the better.

Twice I’ve spent the Fourth of July abroad and both times I got myself invited to an American embassy or a consulate for the day. Not because of my high status, merely because I was American and pre-9/11 this was a thing. I assume right now British embassies and consulates around the world are throwing open their doors to expatriate Brits so everyone can commune during this mourning period.
If I could somehow pull this off I would spend 4th of July again at an embassy or a consulate and I would somehow screen this video. Or maybe Trump can rip it off and use it during his 2024 presidential campaign, no matter how many cease and desist letters Denis Leary sends. He did it in 2016 and again in 2020, but with different artists.
I took the day off, made the daughter breakfast and went grocery shopping. Now she’s going to get hair done and then taking her to her favorite sushi place for dinner. Tomorrow, she goes on a backpacking adventure with my wife so I can harvest my hops and brew with the boys without getting yelled at for stinking up the house! Supposed to get smoky and hot here so I hope that doesn’t spoil things.
Did some mowing, chores, and animal petting. Throwing some laundry in now so I have clean drawers when I go to Chicago.
@Luigi Vuoto
Hopefully not heavy.
God help me, today I watch sprots. I’m going to a tailgate party in about an hour. A buddy conned me into it, and now I wish I’d said no. We will be driving an RV to the stadium. Also, it’s pouring outside. In case I never mentioned it, I am not a sprots guy. at. all. Tomorrow is my birthday, so if this gets tedious, I’m going to explain that we’re leaving for a short trip tomorrow and I’ve got to get some sleep, and calling an Uber.
I am not a sprots guy.

Also
I need to know the nickname of the team your watching. It’s a thing with me.
It was the UCF Knights. They, uh, lost.
Bording my flight home in 30min. So far so good but the kids are getting feisty.
7 days since my covid v2.0 symptoms started and I’m feeling great. I have some light sinus congestion still but the fever has been broken for 4 days. So I guess the ol’ immune system is like ehhhh this covid shit is basically another cold now.
