Oh yes. If people read any of the books about libraries over the past 15 years they heard about this. Libraries have been on the front lines of this and many other social crises.
This was super noticeable when I worked at a public library in the early aughts. Suddenly there were lots of patrons who had never touched a computer before, looking for help bc they were forced to apply online for hotel housekeeping jobs & the like. They quit paying by paper checks around then too.
I think it's also disproportionately falling on younger workers bc they lack connections to get around the AI black hole. So many stories watching my college age kids and their friends job hunt. Only personal/parental connections or public sector internships seem to work. Everything else is awful.
It does seem to make the personal campus job fair relevant again. And I've read anecdotes that snail mail resumes get looked at and get replies. My former college athlete has observed that AI does not understand 25 hrs/wk of training is like having a job, she has demonstrated ability to work hard.

Let me put it another way: In order for the federal government to have any role in restraining the racism of the states we'd need to radically remake the Supreme Court. And that is only a prerequisite, on its own it doesn't accomplish anything.

My first thought was that they’re probably urban explorers, just from the behaviors the article described. I’ve always been fascinated by urban explorers and read a lot of their stuff over the years.
However, one of the first things I noticed was that a LOT of them died from various cancers and diseases. There’s a lot of toxic shit in old abandoned buildings and other structures that they target.
