    …& I guess everyone else can thank that lack of time for not having to hear what I think about the depp/heard verdict…which I assume will be appealed…probably both the bit of her counterclaim that they awarded her & the part that found for depp…which reads like the kind of thing the 5th circuit has been making a name for?

    • The most shocking thing is that the photo was taken in 2000, not 1978, when I myself wore that very same version of rugby shirt to high school. Also shocking, Peter Thiel looks so much better today, at 54, than he did then, at 32. For most men it’s the opposite. Elon Musk still looks freakish, despite having a mother who was a model, but that’s because all the money in the world can’t buy you common sense when it comes to selecting hair transplant specialists and cosmetic surgeons. Has Elon Musk never seen an episode of “Botched”?

      Luckily, as a nice little palate cleanser, @Lymond provided the three joyous Ukrainians to focus on.

    • That case is a disaster. I had assumed that Heard’s piece in the Washington Post was a detailed list of accusations. It’s not.

      The only thing it said was “two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.”

      There is zero reason for that being the basis of a suit. That kind of statement should absolutely be protected by the First Amendment.

      If Depp had a case against Heard for specific things said in other situations, then those things should have been the basis of a suit. But making this single sentence grounds for a multimillion dollar suit is nuts, and it’s really disturbing that none of the outlets driving the coverage of this case are stopping to think what it means to them.

      Every website, paper, and TV show publishes statements like this from countless people every day. They will be out of business if suits like this spread.
