Hi All! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was super productive. I worked on the bicycle that I brought home from Ohio. It’s all cleaned up and I took the rack off the back and spray painted it grey.

I also hosted my book club, which was a lot of fun. Back to work…

  1. It is never too early to start holiday shopping. This little beauty is going to drop tomorrow so I assume in about a month I’ll be able to pick up truckloads of printed hard copies third- or fourth-hand at disreputable outlets for pennies on the dollar. There’s so much wrong with this that it’s just right if you, like me and my friends, try to outdo each other in shock value whenever a gift-giving opportunity rolls around.

    • Make game out of it and lock it up with a chastity belt.

      • I will buy a roll of wrapping paper (it exists!) depicting a Daddy figure reaching toward his twink, otherwise known as “The Creation of Adam” (“Creazione di Adamo”) in keeping with Pence’s “Evangelical Catholicism” made-up belief system.

  2. Should Parton take the money? Maybe donate it to something obviously in contrast to the bullshit Amazon does? What good are awards if they are given by the people very responsible for the planet being torn apart (but dramatic but still.)

    • Yes, she should. Her philanthropic history is such that I think she’s probably one of the few people who should be given that kind of money. She’ll make sure it goes to the right places.

      • Yeah, I definitely know Parton is legit, more questioning Bezos and his ilk and how they use those pittance (to him/them) to try and fit the camel through the head of a needle.

      • MacKenzie Scott has being a lot of good donating the money Bezos had to give her after their divorce.

    • …I guess I’d lean towards the idea she’d spend it better than he would so I’d be inclined to think the only reason not to accept it is if she thought he was using her to launder his reputation & didn’t want to give him the satisfaction…but my impression is that she’s too pragmatic to let that stop her from having that much to spend on good things?

      …also…I might have misheard but I thought I caught something on the radio that sounded like he’d said he aimed to give away his cash before he died…sounded like they meant all of it but nothing about what sort of schedule so I suppose I’ll believe that when I see more than this particular grand gesture?

  3. President Biden’s granddaughter Naomi will be married at the White House on Saturday, Nov. 19. You know that’s gotta hurt if you’re a trump.

    • My close reading of the Tiffany (who?) Trump wedding weekend continues. Normally (and I know this from having racked up attendance points at dozens of weddings, some quite grand and traditional) there is a follow-up brunch where everyone debriefs and new “friends” promise to keep in touch but no one ever does, etc. A hair of the dog is often involved. Much sotto voce discussion of who spent where overnight in whose hotel room. How did the proud father of the bride spend yesterday? Angrily posting on Truth Social of course!
