It’s the annual push for the playoffs in the NBA and NHL. The NCAA has basketball tournies. MLB is in the midst of spring training and there’s something called the World Baseball Classic going on.

The Premier League remains absurdly tight at the bottom half of the table.
Teams 12-20 are separated by only four points, with the bottom three being dropped to a lower league and losing tens of millions of pounds in TV revenue. Leicester City won the League seven years ago and they are on the brink of relegation now. It’s crazy!
Last night was B-ball night at my house. My friend that just found out he had cancer came over and spent the night. We watched Purdue lose (only the 2nd time a 1 has lost to a 16 in history). That was awesome. Then watched our Zags play a shitty first half but dominated the 2nd. Then we watched the Lakers blow a win by missing a bunch of free throws and giving up a game winning shot! That one hurt! Today I watched Duke lose which is always nice but they lost to Tennessee which I also hate. Not too many people still have functioning brackets, I do so far.

Illogical choice to always choose in a high-pressure situation like the tourney–
If the choice is between an excessively *tall* player/team, and a “decently good, but *short* team” that has at pretty decent (if not GOOD!) Defense?
ALWAYS chose the short, D-heavy players!😉
Because it can be incredibly easy to get tall players ALLLLLLL hung up *inside their own heads,* in a high-pressure situation, if you’re short, and work to regularly work the low post!😈😂🤣
If you’re *little* and you can get into the paint, establish *your* spot under the basket, and even *mildly* attempt that rebound?
Yiu fuck with the heads of the big guys, after they reach *over* you that first time or two, and get called for an Over the Back foul😁😁😁
Takes them right out of the game, sets them on their heels, because they don’t wanna foul themselves out of the game, annnnnd it puts them *solidly inside their own HEAD, rather than on the floor, in the game!😆😂🤣
It’s not alllllways *easy* to do…
But you can even be a 5′ tall girl who can *barely* play basketball, annnnnnd rattle the 6’+ boys, when the only place you can shoot from–and that you know how to play, is down on the baseline & low post, in the paint🤣
As long as you keep count in your head, and know to pop yourself *both feet* out of the lane, then get your whole body back under the hoop to box the big guys out of a rebound (AND draw that OTB foul!😈), you can rattle the HELL out of the big guys!😂🤣💖
I think Edey did fine but the rest of the team seemed to have no idea what to do with the mismatches. They were regularly playing 4 on 3 or 4 on 2 due to double and triple teams on Edey, but couldn’t run basic plays. They got heavily outcoached.

I…. don’t have good reasons for picking the teams i do, because I only barely choose teams which are *statistically* good…
Half the time (including for the team at the top of my bracket *this* year!😉😁💖), I pick the Underdog, the Big 10 team, NDSU/SDSU (the semi-locals), the Dogs (this is one of the reasons I picked Gonzaga at #1🤣), the *cooler* mascot in an individual matchup, OR–as with my main reason for picking Gonzaga–the historical status of the team & how they did when I was back in high school & college/shortly after/ in the 90’s (because that’s when teams are HUNGRY, and they reeeeeally wanna knock off those highly-ranked teams (like Princeton😈).
Back in 2021, I picked Baylor *over* the Zags, because Gonzaga was the one eeeeeveryone was talking about, and Baylor was the “sleeper”/underrated team that year.
But *this* year, everything I saw when I did my quick peruse before filling out my bracket was TOTALLY sleeping on the Zags & blowing em off….
So between *that* annnd the fact that they have that great bulldog logo?
They’re the team I wanna see take it all this year.
They’re also due to win it, goshdarnit!!! They’ve been in the tourney for years, and they deserve to take the whole darn thing soon–i think it should be this year!😁💖

I’m glad you’re on board! I’ve watched every game they have played the last 2 years. Unlike other years, they have no guaranteed NBA player, they have a bunch of mature great college players. Timmie really wants to prove he does belong in the NBA as does Strawther (who will make an NBA team in my opinion). They are enjoying flying under the radar a little but every game is crazy from here on. I’m hopeful but not confident.
The Cats are still in it but I don’t have high hopes for them going very far.
Yeah, if they get past K-State, I don’t think they can get past Marquette. I have Marquette in the final 4 in my bracket.
I don’t follow basketball enough to have a bracket or care who wins.
However! I’ve been saying for years that NCAA football needs to model their playoffs after March Madness because there is so much opportunity to shake things up in the tournament that you don’t get that level of good play in the football playoffs. Glad they’re finally expanding the football playoffs but still wish it was even bigger.
Ireland completed the Grand Slam (i.e., was undefeated) in the Six Nations rugby tournament today. Now we can get back to normalcy in the Premiership league.
Looking forward to seeing how much the Orioles can improve over last season. The sky’s the limit with the farm system they’ve built.

I got a coworker at the game tonight, I do not envy them the 24 degree weather on this unseasonably cool weekend.
I really want to go to a game at some point because the stadium is brand new and gorgeous!
Not a big sprouts person. But a friend whose husband is an oncologist and works all the time always schedules the first days of the bracket for vacation. They are a family of tall people and both parents and both kids play/played.
AZ lost but as a leafs fan…well…I’m just looking for the first person who will punch me in the face.
