Black Friday Plans? [NOT 26/11/24]

Hi, friends!

That spastic US holiday shopping event is almost upon us.

Does anyone still go out for Black Friday shopping? Some years I’ll go to the mall on Saturday afternoon to get the Bath and Body Works big holiday bag, depending on what’s in it. Back when I wore makeup regularly, I’d go hit up Sephora or Ulta for some things.

This year, I guess I’ve hit curmudgeon status about it? I was hoping IKEA didn’t do anything for Black Friday because I need a few small kitchen items that normally I get there (and don’t want to deal with extra people volume), but alas, they do have offers so not a chance I’m going there.

black friday cant provide what i need anyways

    oh yay some fucking discounts

you really think that matters on a 4 grand gaming pc?

wooo 80 euros off my gpu,…… get fucked

  3. Let’s see…

    Blackjack

    Googles

    Elbow Pads

    Shin Pads

    Pepper Spray

    Brass knuckles

    Wallet

    Credit Card

That’s what I would need for Black Friday if I wanted to head out shopping. Instead, I’m actually going back to work because I couldn’t get that day off (probably because those folks wanted to take Black Friday off.)

I went once with Former Housemate because he was insistent… this was after it suddenly became a big deal here in Canada because of all those fucking cross border shoppers wanting it here in the 00s. After that I never did again. I hate holiday crowds (which is why I went Xmas shopping in Oct) at the mall so why would I be so fucking stupid when they’re 2X worse? Besides there were no good deals on the stuff I wanted/needed so it was just a waste of time for me.

The only good deals I’ve ever gotten was the InstaPot (MSRP of $200 for $90) and a pile of model kits that would have cost $300 total for $120. And that was online only.

  4. I am going to get a new TV. I have a Samsung, Vizio, and Insignia in my cart. Samsung has the best ratings on quality and tech nerd stuff, and the 0ther 2 are considered “budget brands” although the Samsung is actually cheaper than the Vizio atm (Insignia is $100 cheaper than both). Insignia is a Fire TV so I am familiar with the interface, which is a pull for a luddite like me.

It mostly just needs to have the same features as the one I have (smart tv, the usual hookups & plug holes) and not fucking restart itself every 45 min or pretend it can’t see the remote.

    Any thoughts?
