Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a good week. I’m outta here early to go see the ‘rents.
Got any good weekend plans? Masking up and staying inside again because we can’t have nice things?

Have a great day!
My weekend officially started yesterday at 4:15, woo hoo! Yard work and house work planned and Saturday night my neighbor is coming over for drinks. That will be fun, I have to figure out what to make for nibbles.
When your bills pile up and you need to have a garage sale:
Trump trying to unload another pricey helicopter: report
Related:
Did Trump follow his pledge to donate the last 6 months of his presidential pay? It’s a mystery.
…well…he asked a bunch of people for donations towards those dumbass election audits & never gave any of it to any of those…so…I’m going with “no, he did not”
I’d have bet big that he just lied about the first 3.5 years of donations, but apparently it’s documented. I bet somebody had loads of fun trying to convince him to let money slide out of his tiny orange sausage paws.
I have a spare $20 so I’ll bid that for the pricey Trump helicopter. I will park it on my building’s roof. I’m sure the other residents won’t mind. How difficult can it be to learn how to fly a helicopter? Very young people learn how to do it in the military. I just hope that helicopters aren’t like cars with manual transmission, because I had a boyfriend who tried to teach me how to drive his car (a vintage Saab, a very beautiful specimen, both him and the car) and I was a complete failure. But I was only 20 at the time, so maybe I’ve lived and learned.
Oh, I dunno, as Kobe Bryant.
….
That can’t be a real picture of a helicopter flying upside down. Wouldn’t the draft of the blades immediately slam the whole thing into the ground?
I would imagine, but I am neither a pilot or a dog, so….
No, it can be done. My father & my bro-in-law both flew helicopters and told me about doing it in a Cobra. This guy does it in a non-military one…
I believe only officers actually fly aircraft in the U.S. armed forces. (might be wrong, but it’s certainly not a job for junior enlisted), and officers need a college degree, plus the officer training, and I imagine whatever leads up to flight school, plus flight school itself, so I’d be surprised if any military pilots were any younger than mid-twenties (still young, but not like teenagers…)
I would not buy anything he sells, you know it’s absolute shit one way or another.
If it’s something he produced for the sake of selling it to other people for a profit, you know it’s going to be cheap overpriced rubbish.
And if he’s selling something he owned/used in order to cut costs or whatever, you know it wasn’t maintained or up to code, and any documentation is probably fraudulent as hell.
Adding another notch to my existential dread belt. GA republikkkans are going to take over the Election Board of Democratic Fulton County. Fulton Co. went something like 72% for Joe Biden. It’s one of the biggest counties and is pretty much the center of Atlanta.

Mask away we will, despite being fully vaccinated. All five NYC “counties” (boroughs) fall under this guidance, as does all of Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk counties) and Westchester, the county that sits on top of us to the north.
https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:mBMfuErvwEwJ:https://www.syracuse.com/coronavirus/2021/07/these-11-counties-in-new-york-state-should-return-to-masks-indoors-cdc-says.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
If anyone cares, the five counties in New York are Bronx and Queens (self-explanatory), New York (that’s Manhattan, because we refuse to believe anywhere else in New York State exists), Kings (that’s Brooklyn), and Richmond (that’s the desert island known as Staten Island.)
I’m sort of enjoying the mask mandates. I wear mine all the time, indoors (except in my own apartment) and out. For one thing it hides the fact that my shaving habits have fallen by the wayside, so it’s less apparent that I am a totally lazy slob. Also the mask hides that I’m scowling misanthropically as often as I do when confronted with some of my fellow denizens. The only drawback is that it’s sometimes difficult to get a fellow dogwalker to understand me when I say, “My dog is very friendly” and impossible to convey to their dog(s) that I am smiling at them and inviting them to give my dog a good sniffing over if they want.

Good. They can all kill each other off and leave us alone.

@Lymond Plagueslist?
@MemeWeaver – Actually, that’s better.
One of our smoke alarms went off at 1:30 this morning for no reason as far as we can tell. it took until 2:30-3:00 to get back to sleep. I see a nap in my future.
Everything I’ve heard about Carl Levin is that he was a legend. He built his influence by mastering information and conducting analysis, not grandstanding or empty soundbites.
Unfortunately, the Iraq War, which he opposed, showed the limits of what someone like him can accomplish when the press is determined to look the other way. When Judith Miller-Dick Cheney style echo chambers shut out true information and analysis, nihilistic policy wins.

Omygerd. I saw Hall & Oates as a teenager back in the 19th century and saw Squeeze when I was in college. I must go to this, come hell or high water. If anything will detach me from the Rollator it will be this.
