I was waiting for someone with a more astute view of the NFL to pick this up, but I’m not seeing it, and I get why, so here goes. Tom Brady is leaving the New England Patriots to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to reports.
Plenty of people are or will be addressing WHAT THIS MEANS for Brady, Coach Bill Belichick, the Bucs, the NFL, and anyone else I missed. I’m just gonna take a quick shot.
BRADY: Gets to head to a warm climate, to a team that has some offensive weapons (receivers, at least), and gets to play for a coach that many seem to enjoy playing for.
BELICHICK: Gets the chance to show that he can win without Brady, I guess? A cheaper QB, anyways, which allows NE to spend some money on other players. Maybe they stock up on kickers?
You know who nobody is thinking of here? Uggs. Who the f-ck is gonna wear those in Florida?
UPDATE: I just saw that a Boston publication had used “Florida Man” in a headline, and I’ll be damned if I want to be compared to that. Accordingly, I’ve changed the post’s header.
I kept starting to write this article, but then I realized I couldn’t be fuckin’ arsed to write about the goddamn Patriots because fuck them forever.
And then it turns out you were in Canada? UNACCEPTABLE. I was waiting for your take — you know, the one with knowledge.
“Fak yoo, Tommay Bah!”
-upset Patriots fans?
I don’t think this is going to turn out the way Tom thinks it will. He’s going to spend the next season getting his ass handed to him on a regular basis and missing the playoffs for the first time in forever. I foresee him realizing that it’s not so much fun getting your ass kicked when you’re losing all the time, and deciding to retire at the end of this next season.
Belichick, on the other hand, will be fine. He showed with Cassel and Garrappolo that he can win with anybody. There will be some adjustment time, but ultimately, the Patriots will still be a winning team.
I’m leaning this way as well.
The rumor now is Bel-a-cheat will pick up Winston to prove that he can win with any fucking quarterback and a final flip off to Brady. This could be fun!
Bonus: Josh McDaniels will probably jump out a window at some point after, say, the third or fourth meeting with Jameis.
Except Tebow. Belly’s ego knows no bounds, but he still knew better than to tempt fate with that guy behind center.
