Hi, friends!
It’s sadly only Tuesday. And an election day for many of us.
So rather than discuss dour topics, do some bragging. Tell us something you think is cool or impressive that you’ve done recently. Or plan to do soon. Or saw someone else doing.
I’m growing the most gorgeous bok choy. It looks like giant rosettes with the deep green leaves. Also tastes amazing!
I also didn’t completely lose my shit on a coworker today, despite being sorely tempted. I keep reminding myself that no matter how annoying I find working with this person, I have to assume other people feel the same way probably about me yet remain courteous in our interactions.
My wife is helping out with a silent auction by being a distribution person for winning bidders.
So today we had a winner park at our house in her marked work vehicle.
She’s a crime scene investigator. Big black cop car with a cherry top and CRIME SCENE writen all over.
As she drove off with her goodies, a neighbor was right behind and saw the vehicle. I happened to be walking out the door and my neighbor asked a bit apprehensively “Uh, are you guys OK?”
Also, I planted some trees today.
I’ve been nurturing some native pawpaw seedlings for a few years and a couple of native persimmons, and I decided today was as good as any to send them off.
So I went into the park behind my house with a post hole digger, dropped them into some spots I guessed might be good, surrounded them with chicken wire for a bit of protection from rodents, and now I’m hoping for the best for the decades to come. With luck, a couple will survive and grow. You never know.
I wasn’t working today and then got a text from a friend asking for help (paid) to fix someone’s chimney damaged from the storm. I have never built scaffolding & if I had chose how to deal with this job would have made them pay for a lift but instead we did some crazy shit to make this happen! Tomorrow I get to break it down but I think I got the hang of how not to die doing this. Takes a bunch of strength to get those big metal gates up there while not falling off this thing!
Oh boy. Good for you for helping out, but for me any up high work with heavy stuff is out.
Yeah, I’m ok with heights but made him put a strap to the chimney when we got above roofline. It got shaky & he has constant vertigo so it was stressful. My brain is constantly, where do I jump or minimize damage if shit goes wrong. Luckily we got it fixed without too many bruises.
Nope. I hate scaffolding more than any structure. I would rather have done the scissor lift.
i am become death……destroyer of glasses..
i dont know anyone else capable of waking up knocking their glasses off the side and then stepping on them
and it was a proper step…they are dead
fuck my life
welp…i insured them
in case of farscy fuck up
least this wont cost me too much
I once leaned out of my car window to look at something, my glasses fell off and I ran over them! So, I’m right there with you, lol.
That fucking blows!
Did you hurt your foot when you stepped on them? I hope not.
i am unhurt…asides from the mental trauma of hearing that crunch and instantly knowing what it was….
maybe they can still fix it at the shop……but in any event i need to order my spare pair…
clearly i need spares……
I made 6 qts of chicken stock. I gave some away to neighbors and put the rest in the freezer. And 2 qts of apple pie filling, also in the freezer. I’ll use half of it for Thanksgiving and have the rest for another time.
My parents’ kitchen faucet was dripping the past two weeks but thanks to my rotation and heavy OT sched I was unable to fix it till yesterday.
It took less than 3 hours, several scratches on my knuckles and only 1 trip to the local Lowes to get a new faucet. My parents were impressed that I took care of it. My dad just assumed I am a hopeless moron but I have replaced all the faucets and fixed the toilets in my little bungalow.
At least I got a free meal out of it.
This is more Schadenfreude, but the passle of idiots who ran the big mega IT project at work have completely shit the bed.
Hint none of them have any actual IT experience and none of them have any project management experience. They believed they had process experience. They don’t.
We are several million bucks and 2 years into this cluster fuck and they still have no clue what they are doing.
At a townhall, managment admited that the consultants under estimated the scope. That was a complete and total lie. I know consultants only know what the client tells them. Translation from corp lies, the Dumbfucks running the show greatly underestimated the scope. I knew that because the talentless arrogant king fuckwit (who was one of those that tried to fire me several years back) stole ideas from folks (cough including me cough). Now they are getting rightfully dragged as upper management is looking at their so called experts shit the bed. I am laughing like the “I told you so” asshole motherfucker I can be as I called it as soon as I saw the players.
Yeah contractors build to scope. If the idiots in charge give craptastic requirements, welp contractors don’t care they’re gonna build to scope.
I am enjoying your Schadenfreude by proxy.
The Consultants are laughing all the way to the bank. If we don’t know what the fuck we’re doing then… well cha ching! for them. Scope creep = Fee Creep.
I don’t mean to brag, I don’t mean to boast, but I’m the one my cat likes most.
