Cereal Habits [NOT 7/3/24]

Hi, friends!

It’s Thursday. We’re almost to the weekend. So fucking close.

Anyways, it’s been the kind of week where I’ve just had cereal for dinner. Do you have a cereal you always rely on? Brand loyalty or preference? Different cereals for different reasons?

I’m a basic person in some ways and it’s basic Cheerios (well, usually store brand Cheerios) for the cereal I’ll eat for a meal. In a pinch, I could do Honey Nut Cheerios or Crispix, but that’s about it. I don’t like sweet cereals with milk.

But if we’re talking something to snack on? Sure, Lucky Charms are great. Or the Reese’s puffs cereal. Is the expected customer under the age of 10? Hell yeah I’m interested.

  1. I pared back on sugar and fat a few years ago, and ended up with Cheerios. Then I realized I’d be better off with no cereal at all.

    • I really like Cheerios, although admittedly I’ll always eat an omelet over Cheerios given the chance.

    • Same. Haven’t eaten it in years.

  2. Ever since I developed lactose intolerance I stopped eating cereal. When I was a kid mom always bought healthy sugar free cereals. I was lucky if I got a box of frosted flakes once a year. Otherwise it was Cheerios, Shreddies, Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies.

    • I found that I like oat milk on cereal more than regular milk.

  3. I do vanilla almond Special K about twice a week but stopped most other cereals.  I was into Costco pumpkin seed granola for awhile but burned out on it.

  4. Biden is killing it & making re-thugs look very uncomfortable!

    • Frank Luntz evidently was complaining Biden was loud.

Frank Luntz is also the architect of Newt Gingrich’s Contract On (With) America.

He’s also the guy the NY Times ran to conduct supposedly objective focus groups for their Opinion Section.

  5. I’m a sugar fiend, when it comes to cereal–and surprisingly enough, have discovered that my *favorite* cereal–Cinnamon Toast Crunch/Cinnamon Toasteez/Cinnamon Toasters/etc., is actually *lower* in overall carb counts, than MANY “healthier” cereals🤪

So now I just buy whichever version of CTC is cheapest, and eat THAT, when I’m craving cereal😉😁🤗

  6. I got back into cereal when I started WFH. I TRY to stick with something vaguely adult-ish. Like a raisin bran crunch, or a rice chex. But then it started to be $7 a box at the regular grocery store, and the family size frosted flakes at Aldi is still under $3 so I get that a lot. Or just about anything from Aldi.

My FAVORITE is the chocolate Krave (I think it is Kellogs). I could srsly eat 3 bowls in a row, so I try to only buy it once a year, if that.
