Change of Plans [NOT 4/7/24]

Hi, friends!

I hope your day is going well! I had a major change of plans due to silly stuff. I was going to go to a park and walk this morning, but thanks to more rain and July temps, nope it’s muggy as fuck.

Then I didn’t intend to sweep and mop my house. But my kitchen had a real sour smell, so I took out the trash. Between recycling and my compost bin, I don’t fill up the trash can quickly so who the fuck knows what was rotting in there at this point. Came back inside and the smell was worse. Realized the bag had rotted crap and a hole so there was drippy stinky crud on the floor from it. Gross. Might as well mop the hallway and bathroom if I’m doing the other spaces with hard floors. So here we are. Good news is my house now smells like Mr. Clean and not rotted shit.

How about you? Decent day? If you are watching sportsball, did your teams win?

  1. Did my team(s) win?  Hahahahaha… No.

I had to clean my kitchen when I came home from Vegas… because I found something growing amidst the dirty dishes I left behind (that’s what you get when you wake up a 1/2 later than you intended…)

Finally mowed my lawn in this heat.

    • If you let the lawn go in the heat it will die and you won’t need to mow it.

Or, you can dig a little trench and just do a controlled burn like the First Peoples did.

      • It looked like a jungle in the back….

        I needed a machete or a bulldozer.

    • I hate surprise ecosystems in the sink.

One morning last year I walked into the kitchen to find one of those big house centipedes just chilling in my kitchen sink. Admittedly it took me a long minute to figure out the way to try to kill it before it scurried off at lightspeed.

  2. I almost turned off the alarm and went back to sleep this morning,  but then persevered and walked up to the neighborhood July 4 parade. I decided to turn off the hyperanalytical part of my brain and just enjoy the fire engine blowing its siren at the front of the parade and then spraying water up in the air for all of the kids to dance around in. Back when my kids were little, they used to go too.

A speaker said this parade had been going on for over 80 years, so I guess back to WW2 days. It doesn’t feel bad to be immersed in a tradition like that.

    • Parades can be really fun!

I admit I have no interest in anything celebrating this country today. A friend made a facebook post like “Based on its behavior, America doesn’t deserve a birthday party this year.”
