Hi, friends!
New recall alert for food in the US. Several brands of Brie cheese recalled for possible listeria contamination.
Emporium Select Brie, Supreme Oval Brie, La Bonne Vie Brie, La Bonne Vie Camembert, Industrial Brie, Market Basket Brie
All with a 12/24/2024 best buy date, mostly sold at Aldi and Market Basket.
I have no clue what Industrial Brie is. Either something sold to restaurants or it’s working in the factory keeping the other cheeses in line.
At least all regulations will be gone soon and you won’t know about any of this in advance from here on out. So there is that.
We’ll have regulations up the gazoo on anything that doesn’t payoff the right people.
Make Botulism Great Again.
“The Party of Lincoln!”… trying to bring back the milk sickness, that killed Lincoln’s Mother, woo-hoo!🥳🙃🫠
https://www.nps.gov/features/liho/life/08.htm
Literally, Lincoln’s mother died from milk sickness, because back then folks didn’t realize that if Cattle ate White Snakeroot, it would make their milk poisonous;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_sickness
So we tell MAGA that milk is anti-woke and let it do its thing?
He’ll, we don’t even *NEED* to bother with that level of work!
Y’all don’t follow folks who track the Fundies, do ya?😉😂🤣
“Raw Milk to own the Libs!” is a *serious THING* in the Fundie-Momfluencer-Quiverfullish crowd–they love raw milk as much as they loathe vaccines and their children learning Critical Thinking skills…
All we needa do, is sit back & watch the dysentery sort it out, like an IRL-version of watching someone play The Oregon Trail!🫠
I think it was Gawker back in the day that wrote about how white supremacists were posting photos of themselves drinking milk to show off how they had less lactose intolerance than Blacks and Asians.
Except of course that’s not true for a bunch of subpopulations of Africans, and South Asians eat lots of dairy, and even most lactose intolerant people can have some dairy, which is why a lot of ice cream is sold in Japan, and….
…. well, those neonazis are idiots.
Yep, I eat cheese, yogurt and butter.
I just can’t drink milk in front of polite company unless you want me to destroy your bathroom.
This idea of drinking raw milk makes one “superior” doesn’t really wash. Yes, small amounts of bacteria and viruses can help the immune system to protect the body from these things, but when they occur in nature they’re not small quantities… they overwhelm the immune system and can hurt/damage/kill you.
We’ve always know white supremacists are idiots. This is literally icing on a shitcake.
This got me wondering about whether I really should have been saving the non-moldy part of older cheese. After all, there’s blue cheese, right?
I just looked it up, and it looks like I was basically doing the right thing by chopping off the mold and keeping the rest.

That doesn’t go for really soft cheese though. Throw that stuff out.
I’m not wasting cheddar or romano. Like you, I’ll just chop off the moldy parts and keep going.
no cheese is safe

Don’t worry, there’s cheese caves in Missouri to save you.
https://fox2now.com/news/new-revelations-uncover-history-of-missouri-cheese-caves/
Do they have ’em all up & down the Mississippi/middle of the Midwest?
‘Cuz St. Paul has caves, Faribault (“Fair-bault”–you kiiinda “eat” the back of the “t”, when you say it, to make it sound a bit like an “h”) has some *awesome* stuff made in theirs…
Ngl Amablu & Amagorg are my absolute favorite blues!😉

And apparently you all do, down there, too!
Were *yours* “beer caves” first, too?
Cincinnati has underground tunnels going nowhere that occasionally get called part of the Underground Railroad but were really for storing beer.
On the Springfield side of the state, dunno. St Louis definitely had a lot of beer caves in the vicinity.
I could make my regular comment about “American Brie is *crap*, anyway!”
But I also don’t wanna jinx my good cheeses!💖
I didn’t realize American Brie was a thing! I always bought the stuff labeled French.
President–the brand you see in *every* store, says, “Made in the USA” if you look closely at their packaging;

(Pulled it from the L&B website, because you can zoom in well, to see that tiny writing on the back)
It’s like the shitty “Feta” from Wisconsin, made with cows’ milk!
That feta isn’t bad, exactly. It’s sort of like American cheese can be fine for topping a burger.
That would be a valid thing, then…
I accidentally bought it years ago midwinter, when i was craving some on salad, after having typically gotten the real thing at the local farmer’s market.
I had *no* idea that the stuff I’d been getting was imported, and really good stuff, untilllll I was very highly disappointed by the total lack of flavor in the sore-bought stuff!😆😂🤣
It was basically like ordering coffee and getting a cup of chamomile tea!😂
