It’s There But You Have To Look
I’ve noted before that Easter is not one of the more visible holidays in my city. I’m not sure it even beats out St. Patrick’s Day when it comes to house decorations.
Part of the reason is that the holiday doesn’t have much going for it in the iconography department. Bloody crucifixes aren’t great front yard decorations, and I’m not sure you’d put up a Judas or a Peter pretending he didn’t know Jesus. Which leaves bunnies, eggs, and, maybe lambs?
Some of the potential decorations are obviously permanent and not even out there specifically for Easter, like this rabbit and these lambs.
And this Easter Bunny doesn’t leave chocolate or jelly beans, just some small brown pellets on my lawn.
But here and there you’ll see people making a game effort to decorate for Easter.
I didn’t get around to posting this for Easter, so here:
There were more than a couple “He Is Risen” flags/placards around town on Sunday. And on Facebook.
Yes, he is risen! https://bsky.app/profile/tyranicus.bsky.social/post/3koygtuoozk2o
Sadly, having been to the South Jersey Shore many times, the reality is a little more mundane than what is portrayed here. Although Atlantic City is there so maybe the setting took place in one of Donald Trump’s three bankrupted casinos. I think one had fallen into such disrepair that it was demolished, but maybe the shells of the other two exist in some form.
