Year After Year After Year After Year
For something like 95 years, our neighborhood public elementary and middle school has held a spring fundraiser. It was cancelled for a couple of years due to Covid, but has come back as always.
I first started going when our kids started school there, and even after they graduated from middle school I usually stop by.
It’s run by volunteers who pitch in for shifts of a couple of hours selling tickets, working the flea market, and running carnival games (you can see a winner to the left of this photo with an inflatable novelty hammer).
One of the great things is that kids roam freely with some cash and blessings of their parents.
It’s also a chance for parents to catch up with each other, when they usually see each other in passing when dropping off and picking up their kids.
Long standing fundraisers include the used uniform sale and the plant sale, where I try to pick up some annuals for my garden.
And of course there’s a bake sale, along with vendors.
Parents were recruiting for the local Boy Scout troupe, and behind them you can see some of the inflatable attractions like moon bounces and climbing walls.
And last but not least, tons of food.
Nice . . . and it looks like they had lovely weather.
I think every year the planners are a wreck waiting for the weather forecasts to roll in.
Pretty cool and plants too!
Damnit, I want some Gyros now!
Looks like fun 🙂
Boy, that looks like a good one.
