CHRISTMAS PARADE! CHRISTMAS PARADE!
THE CHRISTMAS PARADE IS HERE!

CHRISTMAS PARADE!

Hooray, the Christmas Parade is here! More to come later.
Memories – I remember marching in winter parades in high school, wearing the skimpy-ish outfits assigned to the precision flag team that accompanied the band. Brrrrr.
My daughter marched in this parade a couple of times when she was little with her dance troupe and Brownies. It’s impressive how much fun kids have, because these can go for a looooong time. Backups always happen as balloons have to get under telephone wires, floats break, the parade gets held up to let traffic get through, etc.
I haven’t been to a parade in years. Since my daughter was small. I’d go but the parking situation downtown is ridiculous.
This one is only about a mile from my house, so it’s easy to walk. I think so many people who live within a couple of blocks of the parade route hang out and watch because there’s no point trying to drive anywhere that afternoon.
When one daughter was in the band and one on the dance team we did our local parade every year. Actually, before that they would march with their karate dojo. I haven’t been to one since those days ended pre-covid.
