Coffee Break [14/8/23]

Your mid morning pick me up

It’s World Lizard Day. I generally like these reptiles. The small ones are cute, scampering about. I wouldn’t mind having a bearded dragon or chameleon for a pet. I even think the larger ones are kind of cool. Like the internet famous Red Tegu, MacGyver.

But I don’t know if I’d be entirely comfortable cuddling one.

Lizards are helping to protect coffee plants from destructive beetles. And for that reason alone, they deserve our gratitude and recognition, especially on a Monday morning. Hope yours is going well, Deadsplinters.

  1. Nope. No cuddling. I’m perfectly fine with lizards that engage in their lizardly business without involving me. But I don’t have the slightest desire to own one. And I sure wouldn’t let it crawl in bed with me.

  2. Fox News – saw a very big one wandering the streets of my suburb as I was almost home. I braked as it attempted to cross the street. The fox stopped and glared at me as I drove past.

  3. dude i met in OK years ago had a pet iguana

he sorta kinda failed to mention that tho
hellova thing to find when you’ve just gotten comfy on the toilet and decide to look up at the windowsill

  4. Geckos were always a welcome edition to my home in Hawaii.  They eat bugs, especially the bad ones and don’t make too much of a mess.  I love their call and watching them do push ups.  If you turn on a porch light anywhere in Hawaii, it will attract mosquitoes and the geckos will not be far behind.
