What fun. We spent about 5 hours last night at the emergency vet clinic with a dog shooting fluids out of both ends. She is recovering with the help of some anti-nausea meds and a probiotic + fiber. She managed, though, to sleep through the night. We, on the other hand, are sleep-deprived and cranky.
Silver lining — I’m working from home today because Princess Piddles needs to go outside about every 30 minutes.

Currently fighting a battle where a thing that was supposed to go live tomorrow went today instead and now a bunch of people are blaming my team for not having our part live.
Upside? I’m very petty and very entertained asking for clarification of when the timeline changed and how that information was shared.
…the nice thing someone framed as being worth doing on my account…is some yet-to-be-determined bit over a 2hr round trip out of the part of my day I’d maybe have made it home for otherwise…so…I aim to go & hopefully it’ll be worth the trip even just to see a couple of people that aren’t the thing that means it has to be way out there where none of us live…but…also it might be their fault I won’t be in bed before midnight…so if I turn into a pumpkin or whatever…that’ll be their fault?

Traffic will be my battle for at least a year if I do anything near Seattle or in a southern direction. They are calling it “Revive I-5” but it is really just incredibly slow road work.

…although…I actually have a soft spot for london underground…& the overground…me & the buses never got on the way the trains & I managed to see eye to eye on how long it might take to get me someplace…but in my admittedly limited experience…the buses in & around seattle have got this person-dumb-enough-to-walk-up-a-hill-so-steep-you-just-need-to-call-it-by-name-&-say-walked-to-make-locals-laugh most everyplace I tried to get to just about when they said they might if I paid attention to how to have & validate my fare at point of use
…it’s a birthright thing, I reckon…brits can write a song like that about the tube because they aren’t waiting on a bus in downtown seattle in winter weather…plus…by definition…they’re not even in the milder sort of shitty weather…so…if complaining is an art…& the brits any kind of example…rudimentary statistical analysis says swearing is pretty much a vital component…& actual studies suggest turning the air blue actually makes shit hurt less even when that’s the kind of hurt that bleeds…true story…so…try practising a billy connolly impersonation…see if that helps?
I take our light rail to get downtown when possible but it doesn’t go everywhere like the good subway/tube systems in bigger cities. On Saturday we are going downtown for a basketball game near the time of the Seahawk game and will take light rail because parking will be over $100 all over Seattle. We will have to drop a car off at light rail station in the early morning and have someone drop us off or we will not get parking at the station because of the crowds.
I feel for your doggie. I also have to go outside every 30 minutes.

Just got a very strange gift at my office: A company dropped off some gift bags for some of us and inside the nicely packed box was a surprisingly large bottle of vodka, branded glasses, some other small items and cookies? It’s weird to give booze as a gift, right?
i mean…vodka would be pretty surprising to me… but wine is pretty normal here…sometimes specialty beer and chocolates…gotta love the belgian courtesy gifts…lol
but over here..booze as a gift at work is not wierd… i obviously dont know if it is or isnt over there
