Thank God it’s Monday! Said no one ever. Unless you spent the entire weekend catching up on chores, and going into the office is a break. If so, it’s time to embrace your inner deadbeat. Laziness is good for you.
It feels like I’m busy All. The. Time. I feel guilty relaxing when I’m at home. I keep thinking of all the things that need to be done. So, I’m going on another vacation. Back to the beach where I can lounge about, read, and in general do nothing. I’m looking for volunteers to cover the Sept 6th Coffee Break and the Sept 10th Happy Hour. But, if like me, you’re trying to add to your leisure time not take on more tasks, I’ll just try to schedule something in advance. PM me if you’ve got too much time on your hands.
The heat wave is an energy killer here in Southern Ontario. I’ve decided to be a tired lazy ass before work.
I encourage this. I walked Fanny and am planning on doing very little else today.
I haven’t been able to find my drivers license since our last trip so I get to spend my day dealing w/ the DOL. I thought I could do it online but it is not recognizing me. Hopefully I can get it straightened out over the phone but that is probably delusional. I’m going to Hawaii in 2 weeks and dropping daughter off at school tomorrow on the other side of the state so need at least a temp. license.
That sucks, and you can’t put it off. Hope it goes well.
I am busy all the time too, which is why I feel zero guilt when I sit down to relax.
I thought of you when I was writing this, lol. As busy as you are do you ever sit down to relax?
Most evenings are when I sit down and read or watch TV. Except for this evening, because I’m so backed up with the tidal wave of produce that I need to make a batch of salsa tonight.
Well. I got laid off last week so as it happens my schedule is now … flexible. Between jobhunting, intermittent panic attacks, and moving my daughter into her dorm, I’ve stayed busy. I don’t think I’m in the best head space to do Coffee Break or Happy Hour right now, though.
My condolences on your job loss.
Well…shit. That super sucks and I feel your pain. Here’s hoping you get another job very soon.
Oof, sorry to hear this. Anything we can do to help? (Specifically is there someone I can run over with a bus, maybe?)
I think there was a political motivation to it, yes. But even though I’m almost certain they couldn’t trace me to this blog, I don’t want to elaborate until my severance check is in my account. There’s a “no defamation” clause in my separation “agreement.” No point in taking unnecessary chances. But thanks.
@bryanlsplinter I’m sorry to hear that. And I completely understand. I hope things get better for you quickly.
Oof is right. Sorry to hear that news.
…damn…they’re clearly idiots…we could raise your posting salary from sweet f.a. to a round diddly squat…but…yeah…that’s not gonna help
…here’s hoping something comes through for you quick enough to keep the panic-inducement to a minimum
@bryanlsplinter, ouch! I am so sorry to hear of this stupid work decision news. They are clearly deluded. Here’s wishing you a very fast re-employment.
Thanks, everyone. I’m not really in a position to relocate now, which always makes things harder. But I’ve done quite a lot of freelance copywriting, particularly in the financial services industry. So if anybody hears of anything in that arena, let me know. Gotta stretch that severance check. Samples available on request.
Other than that, I’ve been hearing a lot about how everybody is understaffed, so I’ll be putting that theory to the test and will report back.
Dammit, sorry to hear about the job. That straight-up sucks, and I hope your job search lands you something better.
damn, that sucks. Hope your situation improves sooner rather than later.
Did you know that Hitchcock’s 1956 masterpiece “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day) was a remake of Hitchcock’s 1934 masterpiece “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (Peter Lorre)? Me neither, but we watched the original over the weekend and it is 10/10, would recommend.
Also, I am looking forward to this
The “Stephen A. Schwarzman Building” is the main building, formerly known as “The New York Public Library”, with the two lions out front. They are named “Patience” and “Fortitude,” but no doubt will be rebranded something like “Apple+” and “[Doomed to failure hot start-up]” within my lifetime.
@Hannibal – since I am still unemployed for the foreseeable future – I can help out with CB and HH
@ Lymond Thanks, you always do a great job. 😊
