    • Is this the new black/gold dress!? The popcorn is moving up the tree for me.

      • Ok that’s fantastic because I read your comment and was like what the heck there’s no way. No way. It’s clearly moving down the tree.

        And then I realized if I use the place where the popcorn moves into Pusheen’s mouth as the starting point for the movement, visually the movement definitely goes “the popcorn is going UP the tree” to my brain!!!

  2. Rum ball mystery solved! My Grandmother uses Stroh (160 proof) Austrian spiced rum. She stopped making rum balls when her bottle ran out because Canada’s import laws prohibit you from bringing anything above 140 proof. The US has no such qualms. Next year I will try again!

  3. Merry Christmas!

    I am getting a solitary day at home thanks to the combination of having to take my dad to the ER yesterday (he’s admitted, stable) and then after spending last night with my mom, she called this morning and either has covid or that nasty 2 week cold that’s going around. Soooo neither of us are visiting him at the hospital and I cancelled the plans I had with a friend. I don’t want to be a lil germbucket illness sharer here.

    • That sucks 🫤 I hope it isn’t Covid but the colds and viruses going around right now are pretty vicious. My middle kid caught a stomach virus that hurt so badly that we took them to the hospital on Friday. They are on Zofran to stop the nausea and vomiting.

    • A quiet Christmas is nice but maybe not under those circumstances. ☹️

  5. I have bought a lot of nice presents for my wife in the past but have never seen the joy in her face like when she opened this present!  She instantly became 7 years old!

    • I admire your openness to interspecies relationships.

      • Instead of Furries they are Scalies.

        All jokes aside, that is the most awesome gift giving that I’ve come across in a while. Indulging in her playful desire knowing she would never buy it for herself.

    • Is that your house?!?! That’s fabulous. That open staircase might kill me but I would die a happy man.

      • Yes, that is our house.  We renovated a 60’s home, I designed the concept & we had a great architect make it happen.  The staircase is cool but took us way too much work staining it.  I am about to rip up the current floors and redo those.

  6. My wife has been doing some crazy crafts.  Every year we have a different Xmas theme for our dinner table.  Usually the girls are very involved but even though she didn’t have her elves, she still went crazy.

     

    and last night she went a little overboard when the neighbors told us to bring an appetizer.

      • We had a blast, the Italian restaurant owner was there & drank wine with us.  Then we hit a bunch of rooftop bars with friends.

    • Oh no. I’m going to log off before I have a Yuletide-envy-related stroke.

      But before I go, you’ll need to know that we’re having filet mignon for Christmas dinner, accompanied by potatoes au gratin, Brussels sprouts, stuffing (! Better Half’s request) and lots and lots of wine. So much wine that we could probably refloat the Titanic. I deserve it. It’s been a long year.

    • I once went to a Christmas party, not my own, thankfully, where…never mind.

  9. I saw one of the neighborhood peregrine falcons a little while ago. I managed to get a photo which is heavily zoomed but you can still see it pretty well. A guy walking by said he sees them going after birds all the time — mostly doves and pigeons, but also cardinals, sparrows and robins.

    • We had a downy woodpecker at our suet feeder this morning, which was a first for us!
