Reporting From My Own Private Idaho...

Woke up this morning disappointed that it’s only Wednesday.

I did have a little fun yesterday — I bought a Record Store Day release well after Record Store Day. I now own a sale-priced picture disc LP of the B-52s’ Wild Planet. There’s some personal history with this album for me, and I thought if I’m ever going to own one of these kitschy releases, why not one of the kitschiest albums ever made?

How are you coping with the week?

  1. …ok…so…if this works…& I’m unclear to what extent the embedded versions work beyond letting them autoplay the next track & not intersperse the stream with ads…I think this would be a playlist?

…starts & ends off the right album…B-52s the whole way…so…if it’s an 8-ball I suppose that would put me behind it…not being the sort that might swallow that sort of prospect…which…is arguably an unenviable position based on the original metaphor about a pool table…but…if you swap out that sort of 8-ball for the magic 8-ball sort…it’s been a good while now since it started to seem like that’s what sits between a lot of us & whatever hypothetical playing field we mean when we talk about a level one of those…or…increasingly on an apparently-but-not-functionally debatable basis…reality?

…like…[proposition] is [dumber than dirt] but [all signs point to “yes”]…where you can fill in anything you read in a not-clearly-bullshit clickbait headline that translates to a policy goal…leave the middle menu on the default like a basic fulcrum that makes the thing implicitly a question that would otherwise be a statement of objective fact…& the lensing effect performs the hand-wave-ium transition to produce your LLM-analogue for shaking the 8-ball

…damn it…it’s only wednesday…& these metaphors are already completely out of hand…good thing I still have access to tunes & enough to read or I’d probably be too busy doing a street performance attempting to stitch the “head out the window” thing from the movie network together with a one-person waiting for godot

…maybe in pyjamas & a dressing gown while claiming my name is arthur dent…that ought to help when I inevitably have to try to turn being labelled insane from a bug to a feature of my doomed case for the defense

…hmm…this will probably wear off once I run out of these dungeon crawler books…well…it’ll at least get diluted…heavens help us if it turns out “litRPG” isn’t a shallow genre-well…it’ll just compound all the adams/pratchett/too-many-comics problem & I barely have that within acceptable-in-polite-company levels as it is

…honestly…I know they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions…but I only set out to put too many songs in a space made for one to make this not take forever to scroll past…but…there were 8 of them…&…I dunno how many hung about in proximity back when those were whatever boeing called them other than B-52…&…think someone else got that gig now we’re not in the 50s & those lines go to the -2s…&…then I was already into the strangelove highlight reel going off in the background before I could do anything about the functional mechanics of deterrence founded upon capacity for mutually assured destruction & the next thing you know I’m still typing

    …on a sodding wednesday

…on the upside…with these B-52s an 8-draw is just one hand & there’s a whole shoe on the table…so…probably a better game all round, really?

        • …hmm…they all claimed to be from the certified not-infringing-copyright B-52s channel so I don’t think a different one from the list will help with that error & I’m not sure what region you’d want to point the VPN to for that way around…to begin with it was insisting I do it on the music.youtube domain…so on the off-chance it makes a difference this would be the same playlist but linked to load that domain instead of the equivalent youtube.com bit for what it plays in?

          https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list

…goes…devil in my car…too much to think about…revolution earth…dance this mess around (live)…mesopotamia (live 1982 broadcast remastered)…song for a future generation…there’s a moon in the sky (called the moon)…party out of bounds?
