Coffee Break [30/9/24]

It’s the start of Spooky Season. I’m not afraid of clowns, monsters, or ghosts, but some of the current quick food trends scare me. First, there was Everything Bagel and S’Mores Cup Noodles.

And now there’s ramen in a tube!

Yes or no, DeadSplinters? And what about other current offerings, like Oreo Coca-Cola, Honey Butter potato chips, and Heinz canned spaghetti carbonara?

      • It’s not meant to be. The kit is designed so a kid or adult with a few acrylic paints, some cutters and a hobby knife can put it together without getting all the tools that I use to build models.

FYI Their Star Wars models are works of engineering “art”, but an expert like myself can paint, weather and detail it to my heart’s content.

  1. I’ll be Mr. Unfussy and say it’s good to mix and match flavors even in seemingly weird places. Now, am I trying everything bagel ramen? Probably not. Would I purchase ramen in a tube? I absolutely would not and am slightly sickened by the photos of it. But still, it’s fine! No need to stand on ceremony with instant ramen (or even “fancier” foods.) Not every combo is going to be peanut butter and chocolate, but some of these things might actually be really tasty and stick around — and then eventually become fancied up enough where it’s considered OK to eat them for certain crowds.

    • I’m a very picky eater, bordering on ARFID. Remember the guy on Gawker who had never tried jello or strawberries? I’m not that bad but close. I have a set of safe foods but I do try to step outside of my comfort zone. I think you have a point about unusual flavor combinations being good. But yeah, that tube ramen? 🤢

    • You’re right, sometimes we got to get out of our comfort zones and new doesn’t mean horrible (bulgogi burritos are actually pretty good at least from the taco truck I got them from in San Diego.)

Ramen is pretty handy in its conventional packaging. I don’t know why you’d want it in a tube though. Just somethings aren’t meant to mix.

  2. Here’s rundown from a popular cooking channel of viewer food combos, including the now famous “Gatorwine” which is “Blue” flavored Gatorade mixed with cheap red wine.

    • I watched the first five and there’s not a single one I could eat, lol. I love pickles but will only eat them separately from other foods. And spam is one of things I want to eat but can’t bring myself to. I’ll watch the rest later.

  3. eh…i like instant ramen…prrobably more than i really should….but that tubed stuff is definitely taking it too far…and its caffeinated?….

tho…i feel much the same about the tubes of high protein meals you can drink that seem to be popular nowadays…

long as ive got teeth ill get my protein from a proper meal thank you very much

    • I usually have protein shakes for breakfast and lunch even though I’m not supposed to.  Don’t tell my therapy team. Eating for me is complicated. *sigh* But I did eat a turkey sandwich  today so that’s good.

      • i had a chocolate muffin round 2 pm and called it brunch coz i couldnt be arsed to eat breakfast and definitely couldnt be arsed to pack a lunch

i dont think i get to judge anyones eating habits (i mean…that doesnt stop me..but im aware i dont get to)
