I love Trick or Treat. I enjoy the community aspect, catching up with busy neighbors, and seeing how much the children have grown over the past year. But the best part is pets in costumes! Cats are notoriously difficult to dress, and sadly, I have yet to see one in person on Halloween.
But we do get a fair share of fashionable pups. And last year, even a pet chicken carried as part of a girl’s outfit. My sainted corgi, may she rest in peace, was always excited to dress up for Halloween. She knew that meant children would be coming, and she’d get a lot of attention. Fanny is not as tolerant. But I am forcing her to wear a costume anyway. I get up at the crack of dawn to walk her during the summer months, bundling up like Randy from A Christmas Story for her winter constitutionals, and pick her poop up year round. One day a year she can do this for me.
Show us your favorite animal trick-or-treaters, Deadsplinters. They can be your pet, a friend’s, or something you saw online.
That is not a happy dog.
Au contraire, that is The Very Noble Hound suited up in the traditional ceremonial collar for the annual Review of the Woodpile.
Exactly, and her demeanor fits the solemn occasion.
Lol, she wore it for her morning walk and really doesn’t mind it. But she hates having her picture taken.
Love her so much!
Aww, thanks @Elliecoo. She’d love you and the Blacksmith pups. Small dogs are her favorite playmates. She thinks she’s one of them.
The late great Jake made a hell of a Bob Marley.
Lol, he did! That’s adorable.

So cute! I love the ticking on the paws.
Fanny is going to Feeder Supply to pick out a special treat and a toy. Even though she already has her Bark Box loot. She’s very spoiled. I’m getting Chinese for dinner and it’s right beside the restaurant. She knows and would pitch a fit if we didn’t go in.
Awwwww!
My dogs have enough issues without the costumes. Lucy will greet trick-or-treaters, but Huck will be back in his crate, where he feels most secure.
They’re good dogs, just not Halloween fans.
A bunch (gaggle? superfluity?) of wild turkeys just came trick or treating to my place. They’ll pass through every day about this time for at least the next few weeks, but you’d think they’d be a little more careful around this time of year. They look like FYCE to me.
Do you feed them or is that frowned upon?
I don’t know who would do the frowning, but those wild turkeys don’t look like they’ve skipped any meals, you know what I mean. No, we don’t feed them, but it does not appear that there’s any shortage of food around here for them.
I’m not sure, Fish and Wildlife maybe. But it doesn’t sound like they need your snacks. 🦃
He looks wonderful, sleep with your eyes open.
