Coffee Break [4/9/23]

Your mid morning pick me up

It’s a three-day weekend here in the US. Labor Day is officially set aside as a day honoring workers, which is laughable, a cruel joke for many Americans. But that’s a subject we’ve covered here before. Instead, let’s talk about how you use the extra day off on a holiday weekend. Is it all parades, beer, and cookouts? Or time to tackle that big project you’ve been putting off?

By the time you read this, I will be exhausted from helping my daughter clean and reorganize her kitchen cabinets. Do I know how to have fun or what?

  1. I need to do some gardening prep work for fall planting. Unsure if I’m going to do any of it because it’s been so warm that like it’s still too soon to plant lettuce or spinach etc.

Moment of silence for my green beans, I’ve lost the battle with the flea beetles. I didn’t know what flea beetles were until this summer, but now I’m more educated for next year. I got real cocky and lazy because I had a ton of ladybugs and lacewings and all the other garden pests were being kept in check. Except squash bugs, because they’re dickbags. But I’m used to them.

  2. I *was* going to go up to Mom’s to hang out with her for Sunday & Monday… annnnd then I got The Crud last Weds/Thursday…

So my weekend was *mostly* spent working at the grocery store (Thursday, Friday, & Saturday evenings) and then sleeping, because that seems to be the best/fastest way to fight off The Crud.

Luckily, it *does* just seem to be the usual “Got done working with kids, get sick in the next week!” Crud, and *not* Covid–i’ve tested twice and both times were negative.

But it *would* be nice *one* of these long weekends, to NOT come down with The Crud!😉💖

    • I DID get to go have Brunch/a late breakfast with my cousin, who’d come down to The Cities to meet up with friends of hers (I tested to make sure I wasn’t gonna spread gunk to her & hers!), so it wasn’t ALL just working & sleep!
