Speaking of dumb v. smart, this nursing home saw what Trump was saying back in March (very few cases, will go away) and decided that the exact opposite would happen so they locked down immediately and have not had any cases of Covid.
My mom’s did the same. I can’t see her, but she’s safe. Nursing homes that reacted quickly and effectively don’t get enough credit for being smart about COVID-19.
I love seeing the leaked excerpts from Mary Trump’s book. So far there’s been nothing shocking, but you know it’s driving trump crazy crazier. I don’t even think he cares if the book makes him look bad, he can’t stand the idea of someone else making money from his name. Cash in Mary! And I’m hoping the Stephanie Winston Wolkoff memoir will finally put the Melania as victim bullshit to bed. Winston Wolkoff must be scum herself to have spent 15 years as Melania’s friend. The adage that there being no honor among thieves must be true for grifters as well. I really don’t care, do u?
I hate the “Melania as victim” crap. I’ve said it before, Melania is a professional. She gets paid to do what she does, period. There’s a contract and money changes hands. Her only beef is that she didn’t want to be First Lady. It’s too much scrutiny and she doesn’t want that.
When she’s fulfilled the terms of her contract, she collects her money and she’s gone.
Tucker Carlson vs Tammy Duckworth
Reminds a bit like Saxby Chambliss vs Max Cleland with a hopefully better outcome.
Tammy nearly gave her life and her limbs for the US while Tucker Carlson believes he’s more of a patriot because he’s a mediocre born rich white male that got his WASPy ass beat in a televised spat on CNN by Gentleman Jon Stewart 15 some odd years ago.
There is a lot of pressure on his sponsors to the point where I think it is down to Mr. Plow. But I think Fox figures he is such good advertising for the rest of the network that they can afford it.
Murdoch needs to be so poisonous that no corporation wants to be affiliated with him.
They are starting to get worried that Dems are going to have a huge advantage among absentee voters. Every election a decent percentage of GOP voters can’t vote in person, and now the GOP is worried they won’t be voting at all because of all of the propaganda.
They know that more black people and poor people will vote if they don’t have to stand in line for 6+ hours. They know they can’t tell them they aren’t registered or allowed to vote if they get a ballot in the mail. They know that it is hard to intimidate someone when you can’t get in their face and demand ID. I have faith they will still find a way to screw over the disenfranchised but now they have to work a little harder to do it.
Lifting the eviction moratoriums is another form of voter suppression. People won’t get notices of registration purges, or know that they need to update their registrations. And can you even register without a legal address?
Good points! They are also trying to make voters by mail have to have signatures notarized or add other hoops to give them a reason to throw out ballots they don’t want.
A new Monmouth poll says 77% of Americans believe “defund the police” means reform the police and only 18% say it means get rid of the police.
I think a lot of the political establishment and press has long missed how unpopular the police are with Americans across the board. African Americans have been hit the worst, but tens of millions of other Americans remember every time they got a stupid traffic ticket, got yelled at by a cop for no reason, or called the PD for help and got a cop to stop by hours later only to laugh and get back in the car.
That’s not to say there aren’t a lot of dedicated cops out there, but they are often the ones who will tell you the system is broken. Which is why I think BLM is striking a chord.
“Hillary Clinton had 30 years of hard negatives against her, and Nancy Pelosi was a leader on liberal issues like Obamacare,” said Matt Gorman, a Republican strategist whose stints at the National Republican Congressional Committee produced countless attacks on Pelosi. “They were in the spotlight in a way that a vice president operating in Barack Obama’s shadow just wasn’t. And Biden has been adept at not always taking the bait on stuff like ‘defund the police’ or the Green New Deal. He just doesn’t come off as polarizing.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/paloma/the-trailer/2020/07/07/the-trailer-who-s-afraid-of-joe-biden/5f00a17d602ff1080719519b/

Posted this last night but it was late and I don’t think a lot of folks saw it. This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all week.
Their best ad yet.
I know. They’re just gaslighting him now. I said last night:
THE PHONE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE DONALD
He’s gonna have a fit. Twitterstorm in 3 … 2 … 1 …

I enjoyed the Hamilton reference from the high court. These days it is 6 degrees of Hamilton separation.
And for more horrid news, SCOTUS just gave its tacit endorsement of religious discrimination at work and over birth control.

I don’t have anything further to add that is fit to read, or won’t get me into trouble for making threats against officials.
BUSTED!

I don’t know how to interpret the bold part:
