Deadsplinter Up! All Night: 23 Minutes in Brussels

One of my favorite chill Indie rock bands of all time is Luna.    Described by Rolling Stone as “the best band you’ve never heard of,” Luna combine intricate guitar work, traditional rock rhythms, and poetic lyrics.  Many know the leader Dean Wareham from Galaxie 500 and I used to discuss on the old DUAN which band was better with a few of the regulars there.  We never really had a consensus though.  Most agree though that Luna’s best album is the 1995 album Penthouse.   The band split up officially in 2005 but Dean & Britta continued as a duo.  In 2015 the band reunited for a tour and put out a new album in 2017.

They are a big hit on local radio station KEXP where they did a live in studio performance of Malibu Love Nest.

and again in 2018 on KEXP with Sideshow by the Seashore

This song from Penthouse has the most fun lyrics!  Hedgehog

They were touring after that until this whole music shutdown.

They put out a socially distant cover of Television’s track Marquee Moon in August that is pretty cool…

Thanks for your support of DUAN & Deadsplinter. Welcome to all the new Ohana!

The note at 4:00 is sheer perfection.  The greatest recorded guitar note of all time:

I have to admit that Emily makes me tear up a little:

And I find a raw, dark beauty in this:

  2. Awesome stuff RIP!  Love the Indie tune but that last Starflam song sounds like they either sampled or are using the lead singer from Zap Mama, which would make sense since they are from Belgium?  Very cool…
