Deadsplinter Up! All Night: 4th of July

Independence Day

Hey all, happy 4th to all of you. Though it sure feels like we have lost our independence, so we might as well make this last one a doozy! I am on our yearly trip to my buddy’s family beach compound where as you see above, they will be blowing shit up. I am not a huge fireworks person but it makes for pretty pictures and a festive party. I’ll try to check in but WIFI is sketchy over there.

Enjoy your night!

    • “Independence Day” was fabulous. I saw it on the day it opened, in Washington DC of all places. That trip was really memorable because BH wasn’t with me so I was in the hands of my freewheeling hosts. At one point I attended a rave (! You really should have seen me in 1996) and I didn’t/don’t do drugs but I tried to keep up.

  1. Let me delight you with a video that never fails to cheer me up when my faith in the Republic starts to flag. This is a 4th of July standard:

If mothers could send their sons to Iwo Jima I can put up with the clownishness, chicanery, and criminality that is an everyday political occurrence around here.

And what is it all for? FREEDOM!

  2. Fun story:  My father had a friend who was into making his own fireworks and explosives.  One day my father saw some guy using a roll of det cord as rope, apparently not knowing what it was.  My dad bought it from him, and sold it to fireworks buddy, who turned around and sold it to a Fed.  His cell buddy in prison was Gordon Liddy.
