I listen to a lot of “older” music. 60’s and 70’s rock and R&B, bluegrass, new wave, etc. I used to keep track of new music religiously, but just don’t anymore. Fortunately, we have KeitelBlacksmith around to keep us up to date on indie rock. Anyway, despite that, one of my favorite albums of all time is 2005’s (2005 is like yesterday to me) Axes by British indie rock group Electrelane. It was produced by Steve Albini and originally recorded largely improvised in one take. It’s a glorious, sloppy celebration of making cool noise. I should probably post a studio track, but weirdly I’m going to go against my norm (shout out to Luv4allmusik) and post this fun clip of the ladies performing the opener from the album live in 2007.
Bells – Electrelane
Thank you for your continued support of Deadsplinter!
Tenpole Tudor – 3 Bells in a Row
The future of the Blues is bright with the likes of Gary Clark, Jr.!
Clark’s guitar solo at 7:00 is just amazing!
Mark Lanegan Band — No Bells on Sunday
There are too many possible picks for this one! What to choose, WHAT TO CHOOSE?
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds – Let the Bells Ring
The all-time classic.
…oh, all right then…I seem to remember there was this one track by some minor metal band no one really remembers any more
…well, all right – but they weren’t that big of a deal when I were young & dinosaurs roamed the earth?
Check Masses – Dripn Angel
Black Ice – Bells Of Sicily
Hell’s Bells.
I was shocked it took this long for this one to get posted, so I was going to post my favorite version of this song…
Hey, my school’s anthem…
I like your posts Jonee. Also, Keitel said “the pressure” to your name-checking him. Finally, tonight I took the low-hanging fruit with my pick, I will try to do better.
oh man… all my go too picks are already taken…. hmmmm
is it a stretch to go for the album name?
My favorite INXS song is also not a new sensation yet its obscurity and near disappearance from pop culture mystifies me. Just a kick to the balls… In the end, I think you get what you need.
Damn you LOST BOYS! Soundtrack.
Because there’s nearly always a ‘Jovi song for that:
And my other favorite bells-themed song that isn’t on here yet😉
A classic, but have some bells.
