Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Bells

I listen to a lot of “older” music. 60’s and 70’s rock and R&B, bluegrass, new wave, etc. I used to keep track of new music religiously, but just don’t anymore. Fortunately, we have KeitelBlacksmith around to keep us up to date on indie rock. Anyway, despite that, one of my favorite albums of all time is 2005’s (2005 is like yesterday to me) Axes by British indie rock group Electrelane. It was produced by Steve Albini and originally recorded largely improvised in one take. It’s a glorious, sloppy celebration of making cool noise. I should probably post a studio track, but weirdly I’m going to go against my norm (shout out to Luv4allmusik) and post this fun clip of the ladies performing the opener from the album live in 2007.

Bells – Electrelane

Thank you for your continued support of Deadsplinter!

  1. …oh, all right then…I seem to remember there was this one track by some minor metal band no one really remembers any more

…well, all right – but they weren’t that big of a deal when I were young & dinosaurs roamed the earth?

  2. I like your posts Jonee. Also, Keitel said “the pressure” to your name-checking him. Finally, tonight I took the low-hanging fruit with my pick, I will try to do better.

  3. My favorite INXS song is also not a new sensation yet its obscurity and near disappearance from pop culture mystifies me. Just a kick to the balls… In the end, I think you get what you need.

    Damn you LOST BOYS! Soundtrack.
