  Better Half was up in one of the tonier Connecticut suburbs today at one of those parties that we throw to dispel the gloom of these winters. I begged off, because of work and because no one wants to be reminded of their own mortality by seeing a person younger than they are walking in using a cane and being supported by his husband.
  
  Anyway, while I have been holed up here in the Casa Encantada, the wind has been incredible. All the windows have been shaking and rattling. They normally don’t do this; this is a new-ish building and really well-constructed. It seems to have died down but whatever that was, was really something.
