Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Changes

make some change

Everything changes, and that’s sometimes good, sometimes bad. But there’s nothing you can do about it. The Chinese developed two whole philosophies about how things always change. In fact, one of primary texts in those philosophies, the I Ching is also known as the “book of changes”. I guess the idea is that you come to terms with the changes and go with the flow, which is always a good idea.

Change, transformation, rebirth, death, seasons are all fair game for tonight’s Game of DUAN. Change your hair, change your life, change your underwear. Be the change for a twenty you want to see in the world. So, what’s changing, how does it feel, and how are you coping? What does it sound like?

Somethings won’t change though.

This has been a challenging week out on the farm. Nothing particularly bad, just a ton of work and long days. This stuff ain’t for the lazy – which I am. I’m really happy to be able to take a break to make this little DUAN, such as it is. Thank you all for coming out and participating.

    • Yeah, it’s been incredibly busy for me too.  I thought high summer in the country would be a lot of laying about in a hammock, but I’ve been busting my hump lately.

      • Who sold you that bill of goods?  I grew up on a farm and ain’t no fucking way I would ever want to go back to it.  Way too much work for my lazy ass.  Mrs. Butcher wanted to get a farm and I said the closest we were ever getting to a farm would be living in the suburbs.

        • My grandparents lived in a rural area, not a true farm but they raised chickens and sold eggs, hay, Christmas trees, and veggies.

It’s relentless. I always shake my head at the modern chicken coop movement, because these people have no idea what’s involved and the completely unsentimental attitude you have to take. You have to be prepared to take a hatchet out to the hen house at 4 am Sunday morning to put a hen out of its misery if a neighbor’s dog dug its way under the fence. If you’re not ready for that, don’t raise chickens.

  1. That’s just the way it is.

    But I won’t change you.

    • …it’s a great tune…but now I feel bad twice over…I’ve been slacking about getting tom waits in the line up for the tunes I leave at the end of the DOT…& I’ve been neglecting the DUAN posts

…I plead exhaustion currently…but I definitely need to shape up on both counts
