Let’s have a flashback Friday DUAN . Gentle crooning was a very popular style of singing back in the day. It carries a sentimental sound along with the melody.
Thanks for playing, Deadsplinter.

Nobody crooned like Deano.
Mike Douglas – The Girl from Ipanema
Nat King Cole – Mona Lisa
i’ll go with rudy
Connie Francis – Where The Boys Are
Hank Ballard and the Moonlighters
The Jovi for that’d probably have to be something power-ballady…
Like this😉
But as far as Real Crooner, since I don’t see him mentioned yet?
It’s gotta be Sam Cooke💖;
And seeing the mentions of the Rat Packers reminded me of one of the very first crushes I had as a tiny, preschool-aged Emmer….
The impeccable triple(plus!) threat–and EGRT (unfortunately he won a Razzie, rather than an Oscar–BUT the dual NAACP awards, NATAS, Golden Globe, R&B HOF, Civil Rights history & accolades *and* Kennedy Center Honors do kinda make up for that lack of an Oscar, imo😉💖)
The FABULOUS Mr. Sammy Davis Jr;
(Edited, because I messed up my links!😖)
And there was a note he hits, fairly early in the song, that immediately called to mind, that same quality & tone of voice–with the *knowledge* and control over that amazing instrument, which reminded me of the divine Jennifer Hudson, and her knowledge of her own “voice as an instrument”…
And though it is a bit more powerful than soft crooning, I’d argue that for vocal quality, she ought to be included with these amazing legends everyone’s posting tonight😉😁💖
And if I had the power to get any music I’d love to hear produced?
I would LOVE to hear J-hud sing ^exactly that^ version/arrangement of Mr. Bojangles that Sammy performed–because she could be a contender to match the tone, depth, & quality in his version!!!💫
My phone hates me tonight, so the other link is here🤣
