Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Crate Digging

most in obscurity, some of them dead

What music hit your ears recently? Let’s hear it.

This was in an episode of Lupin:

The Melo Gents were a really good group out of Orange, New Jersey. They put out a handful of fine records but their unscrupulous agent ripped them off and they faded into obscurity.

I love parade bands, and this one slams

My local college radio station was playing Italo-Disco the other day for some reason.

I found an album of remastered gems from steel guitar legend Sol Hoopii and the great Lena Machado. This one goes out to @memeweaver (who I assume has his feet in the Hawaiian surf right this minute) and of course, to @loveshaq who is our go-to for everything Hawaiian.

  1. childhood memories popped up on old fogey fm for me the other day

been a minute since i heard that slightly offkey opening riff

gave me the warm and fuzzies it did

  2. I went grocery shopping today and found myself singing along to this blast from the past without even realizing it at first.

Cliff Richard – We Don’t Talk Anymore

  3. Nice mix!  I recently rediscovered a very 80’s band from Argentina.  I miss bands that sound like this.  Reminded me of early Echo & the Bunnymen…

and for my Euro-friend out there…

  4. I got a vinyl copy of Peter Gabriel Plays Live just before we left. This song always gets me: “Not One of Us”.

That ending with what I would consider a minimalist live band set-up…
