I watched this new documentary about Suzi Quatro the other day and it was really fun. Not a ground breaking film, but if you’re a fan of hers, the 1970’s, or rock music in general, it’s worth seeing. She was a trailblazer. It’s interesting that she never really caught on here until she was on Happy Days. I think because she had a glam rock sound that just never got huge in the U.S. We were listening to The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Anyway, I always thought this was a cool song.

RIP Charlie Daniels
The Charlie Daniels Band – The Devil Went Down to Georgia
I wish I could want Charlie Daniels to RIP but he was pretty much a POS over the Obama years and showed his racist ass. Much like Kid Rock & Ted Nugent, he has been dead to me for a long time and I will not shed a tear over his passing. Sorry if this doesn’t sit well with anyone.
You’ll get no argument from me.
I suspected that but didn’t want to look fearing what I’d find… oh well, I ready liked ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’…
I’m with you. I loved that song. I loved a bunch of Nugent. I just can’t separate the music from the assholes anymore. It may not be reasonable since most rockers have skeletons & it may be “cancel culture” but if u go on Faux News to spread bullshit, I’m done with you.
yes. like you say, it may not be reasonable, but once you know the performer in question is Faux News/OAN/Alt-Right/Trump/Neocon or whatever other RW bullshit, you can’t not see the performance with a different eye…
I’m with you, Shaq.
I adored CDB when I was younger. Knew all the words to probably ALL of the songs on the Decade of Hits album (Still in Saigon,Legend of Woolley Swamp, Long-Haired Country Boy, and Drinkin’ My Baby Goodbye, amongst others!).
Charlie was a virtuoso on the fiddle… but honestly, after 9-11 he *started* to turn full-asshat, and then, YEAH, by the time Obama was elected, his racism & bigotry was the loudest part about him, and while I can appreciate his skill as a fiddle player, he was an unmitigated asshole in his later years.
Todd Snider – The Devil You Know
I’ve long had AM gold hits as a secret guilty pleasure. I just love pure pop, even (or especially) if it’s schlock. If any of you every say I posted this, I’ll deny it.
Haven’t posted some Steve Earle in a hot minute:
THEME BIFURCATION!
Here’s a couple, then:
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – “Beat the Devil’s Tattoo”
Mike Ness – “The Devil in Miss Jones”
THEME BIFURCATION X2
found four in my library, that I actually like…
first, because Polly Jean is just unquestionably my favorite;
PJ Harvey, The Devil:
Not much to say about this, just I like the artist, I liked the album, and I liked the song;
Tori Amos, Devils and gods:
First heard of Tracy Bonham off of one of those 90s Lilith Fair albums, liked some of her other stuff. Put all of the artists in my library in Songkick concert notifications, and got a notice she was playing some tiny venue on my way home from work a couple years ago. Really TINY, like, everyone was within bottle-chucking distance of her. pretty decent show, and she stuck around to sign things and chat with people, and was super friendly.
Tracy Bonham, Devil’s Got Your Boyfriend:
Not partial to the artist, but it’s on a soundtrack I like. I’m not one of those people who gets every soundtrack that comes out, but sometimes there are a couple I really like. I think I have maybe a half dozen in my library. This is from the Wim Wenders 90s movie, Until the End of the World. I haven’t seen it since I first saw it in the 90s, so I kinda wonder how it holds up, but I really liked it at the time, and it had a pretty cool soundtrack.
Daniel Lanois, Sleeping in the Devil’s Bed:
Because we never mentioned Live Aid, in The ‘Chicks theme last night (not that the two have/had ANYTHING to do with each other, except that both are “Music”,
The best set from the event, a bit of fucking MAGIC, and an amazingly bittersweet moment, when one thinks of all the rest of the music & performances we never got, because of fucking AIDS. (Sooooo many “If Only’s” when it comes to Freddie, most tragically, the fact that Magic announced *his* HIV status on Nov. 7th, and Freddie passed just over two weeks later–on the 24th… The biggest if–if Freddie made it *just one more year,* would he–like Magic and so many others–still be around today?💖)
Queen at Wembly–the FULL set;
Turns out the second-newest ‘Jovi album has a song that *exactly* fits the “devil” theme;
But musically–just like all the full band’s songs with Phil instead of Richie, the Guitar is just kinda “heavy” and not as musical…
This one is more my favorite, for the theme, although it’s Jon’s album, and *also* not all the boys;
