Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Did You Find The Money Farm?

The Bruce Lee Band & Mike Park

I’ve been a fan of Mike Park since I first learned about his band Skankin Pickle. Back then and even today, you didn’t see too many Korean singer/sax players in ska bands or anywhere else. His new album has a video with another of my ska heroes, Angelo “Dr. Mad Vibe” Moore of Fishbone. His band after the end of Skankin Pickle became the Bruce Lee Band.

Even more fun is Mike will sometimes sing in Korean knowing very well that 90% of his audience has no idea what the hell he is singing about!

Here’s Mike doing a Skankin Pickle song in Korea that is actually about a Canadian teenager show in English…

Mike started his own recording label, probably because that was the only way to get his music out there. Now he represents some of the brightest new ska bands. It is correctly called Asian Man Records.

I’ll do some of his other bands in the future but will leave you with this non-ska song that feels like some new wave from the 80’s.

Have a great night DUANers. You have almost made it to the weekend!

    • I didn’t even realize that was a cover so you got me on that one!  Just sounds so perfectly 80s.

Skankin Pickle’s Green album above was a masterpiece!  That cover just nailed it & rocks harder than Devo.  I have every Skankin Pickle CD and that one may be my favorite though like my children, I should love them all equally!

That’s funny, because I thought you were just making a joke. But you nailed it: totally ’80s.

Then I had to go look up Augusta Koch. She makes some interesting stuff that in my opinion seems rabbit-hole-worthy.
