The Buffalo Creek Disaster happened on Feb, 26, 1972. A coal mine slurry dam in Logan, County, WV burst four days after being given a satisfactory rating. Over a hundred people died, a thousand were injured, and thousands left homeless.

“Eve of Destruction.” Note the performance artists in the back, graduates of the Martha Graham School no doubt.
Speaking of “Rock You Like a Hurricane,” one of the funniest usernames I ever encountered was on Jezebel many years ago, during its heyday: RockYouLikeAHermanCain.
I remember RockyoulikeaHermanCain. Wonder what they’re up to these days?
I don’t know, but I can tell you what Jezebel is up to. Yesterday afternoon, around 4 PM, they posted one of their irregular random Saturday Night Socials. The blogger had read a Washington Post Miss Manners piece about someone being uncomfortable about someone else’s nude portrait…Naturally, almost no one cared to comment. Eleven in the black, three in the gray, as of this writing more than a day later. This on a day when half the country was locked in at home because of the brutal temps.
