Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Fearful

Suraphol Sombatcharoen – Fearful

Suraphol Sombatcharoen was the King of Luk Thung. Also called Thai Country Music, like country music here, it’s probably the most popular genre in Thailand. When I was there, you couldn’t go to any shopping center without hearing it blaring from a stand selling cd’s of the stuff. It’s quite enchanting music, and I couldn’t resist buying a few. I don’t know too much about Suraphol except that, sadly, he was murdered, apparently by a “jealous husband,” after a concert in 1968. Crazy.

Thank you for your continued support of Deadsplinter!

  1. We have some Cambodian friends who like similar song stylings. Here is a song from the album Fear Fun, Father John Misty, You Can Do It Without Me.

  2. I’ve learned a lot of new artists here but tonight DUAN has introduced me to a whole new genre of music.

I can’t remember if someone posted this on here recently or if I heard it on our local college station in the last several days. Sorry if I’m repeating someone’s pick.
