Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Good Bye Yellow Brick Road

Hi friends – I haven’t been around a lot lately due to finally getting a job after eleven interviews. I can only say that it’s a network show and it’s kicking my ass. I did leave early last Thursday to attend the Elton John concert that I had bought tickets for way over a year ago. My mom loved Elton with every fiber of her being and saw him many times in the 70’s and 80’s – so my sister and I wanted to see him kind of as a tribute to our mom who passed away a couple of years ago. Anyway, I haven’t been to a concert in probably fifteen years and I think me and two other people were the only ones wearing masks(I still get covid tested 3x a week) in the whole stadium, but it was really amazing.

These are videos that I took of the show – which are not the full songs, but I thought the production value was fantastic. I also added a 70’s live version of both songs. I can’t believe what a phenomenal musician he is.

Thanks for your support!

  1. Congrats on the job, it sounds like a well deserved evening off. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. Here are a couple of my fave Elton John tunes.

    Burn Down The Mission

    Madman Across The Water

  2. Please tell me you’re working on Real Housewives of Atlanta. But hopefully in a role where you have no contact with the rage-fueled nutjob cast, just close enough to learn every grisly detail, no matter how morbid or far-fetched. I still can’t believe they only had Tootie on for one season.

  3. Congrats Lymond!  I’ve been watching White Lotus & just found out one of my buddies is doing sound for it.  You all know I can’t just post a straight (no pun intended) Elton song so have a great funk cover…

  4. Congratulations! I hope I have the same result as I’ve gone thru my 11th job I’ve interviewed for the past 3 years this week… (of a total of 22 total interviews.)

I really do like most of Elton’s discography except for Candle In The Wind.

This one annoyed me a bit because classmates used to sing it (mostly to annoy me because my name is Dan.)

  5. Honky Tonk

What good news, congratulations on your new job!!!

I like Elton John, his music was background to my childhood and teens, he was always on the radio. It looked like an excellent show, and a beautiful way to honor your mother.

  6. By coincidence, one of the pix I shared today was nicknamed “The Yellow Brick Road” by my kids due to the vaguely yellowish bricks on it.

I’ve always heard Elton John is a great concert performer, which must be hard because the piano is the most unwieldy instrument possible. Worse than the tuba. A couple of other piano guys who are supposed to be great in concert:
