I recently found out about Konrad Wert aka Possessed by Paul James. Wert is a string musician from Immokalee, Florida. His family was Mennonite Amish. He currently lives in Texas, where he, also, is a special education teacher. Here’s the music video for ‘Hurricane’:
Thank you for your continued support of Deadsplinter.
The Dirtbombs – Fire In The Western World
Plus one of my favorite songs by them. Underdog
Good stuff. Here is song about a storm. Low hanging fruit.
The J. Geils Band
Must Of Got Lost
Love this band and I’ve always found the messed up grammar in the title of this song to be strangely endearing.
Hair Rock Storm
or Lounge storm?
Bob Dylan – Hurricane
That was going to be my pick. Now I need to actually think of something!
Sorry, I should have tried a little harder. That damn press conference this morning has me so discouraged.
I really like that album.
I’m not real crazy about these guys, but this is pretty good:
The city of Cesena is located in one of the harder hit CoVID19 regions of Italy and was better known for trying to get the Foo Fighters to play there.
The Way We Live – “Storm” (1971)
Excellent
SRV (although at the time just SV) & DT – They Call Me Guitar Hurricane
I thought my NOLA buddy would have beat me to this one! Trombone Shorty – Hurricane Season
…maybe it’s cheating…but how about I AM THE STORM?
A couple of years ago last August, my wife and I were smack in the middle of Hurricane Harvey in Houston. Over 55″ of rain in just a few days. People being airlifted off rooftops right on my block. Zodiacs going down our street, the whole thing. Water pouring out of the light fixtures in our house and rising around our feet. The worst part was the ceaseless pounding of the rain and wind. I learned that 5 days of rain and wind banging against the windows can make you start to go insane. The first day they opened up a road leaving Houston we loaded up what was left of our stuff and lit out for the Central Coast of California.
Laura Nyro also did a luminous version of The Wind, which was originally recorded by the great Nolan Strong & the Diablos.
3 winds, my vote goes to the Jesters!
I have a 3-fer for you:
Pink Martini & the Von Trapps would have been a great name for an indie no-wave band.
Ground-breaking satellite broadcast. Underrated band, IMO.
