DeadSplinter Up! All Night: In Memoriam

Yesterday, an old roommate texted me that a former coworker and friend of ours had passed due to cancer. Pacifico, but we all called him Pac or Pacman, was one of the effortlessly cool people I had the pleasure of knowing and calling a friend. He was an amazing musician and played at the local bars in nightclubs of San Francisco and Marin County. After work I’d watch him play at a club on the Embarcadero where another friend/coworker would sing and host karaoke nights. Here are a few videos of his performances. Thank you Pac and thank you for your continued support of DeadSplinter. (We worked on Alcatraz that’s why it’s the featured image.)

  1. For me it was Billy Block. A great guy whose picture could be found in the dictionary under “Cool.” He was a great drummer, a better person, and I can’t imagine what his wife and kids have gone through since he died.

  2. Looks like a very cool guy and great musician. Sorry for your loss. I’ve loss so many musician friends or just guys I used to watch play live over the last few years, it never get easier. The roughest one for our family was Cyril Pahinui, he taught my nephew guitar & ukulele. He worked with my brother & I worked with him doing some teaching/performance videos. In Hawaii you say a Hui Hou (until we meet again)

  3. I’m jealous you worked on Alcatraz. I’ve been in corrections for 20 years, and to the extent that I have a bucket list, Alcatraz and Penitentiary New Mexico are on it.

    • It was a fun gig all things considered for it being my first job out of college. Whenever you get the chance, here are some tips for tickets. Book at least a month in advance and try to go in the between November and April when it’s less busy.

  4. Sorry for your loss, Boop!💞

    Ran across this one just a bit ago, when I was trying to remember the Brooks & Dunn song I was trying to remember for yesterday’s theme, and it’s STILL one of my faves, all these years later (not a Vince fan, because he always sounds nasal to me, but I DO love this one of his);

    David Ball;

    Willie & Ray on one of my favorite duets;

    My favorite song that originally wasn’t what it eventually became–but then DID become a beautiful tribute (and was a favorite of my friend Dan);

    Some Chris LeDoux:

    And the ‘Jovis:

    Lastly one of my favorite B&D songs, which also fits💖
