Deadsplinter Up! All Night: It’s All Too Much

More Beatles? Sure, why not. This is my favorite Beatles song. It’s just amazing. There’s a lot going on in it, but if you focus on the guitar, George is killing it from the opening feedback charged chord onward. It’s on the non-score side of the Yellow Submarine soundtrack which is a perfect 6 song mini album.

    • Cameo Parkway released a lot of great stuff in their fairly short existence. They gave us Chubby Checker’s “The Twist”. Bobby Rydell. One hit wonders like Question Mark and the Mysterians. The Orlons and “Wah Watusi,” which spawned an early 60s dance craze in a period that was chock full of them, like The Twist.

  2. One of the most romantic songs ever recorded, Luther Vandross’s “Never Too Much.” The song was released in 1981. This is the official video so it must have been recorded around then, the same year that MTV launched. As a special bonus there are NYC street scenes from that time. You briefly see Florsheim, which was in Times Square forever. Oddly enough, you don’t see any of the dozens of “adult entertainment” venues.
