We’ve had time now to process the Olympic closing ceremonies. What follow are actual quotes from my house:
“I would really like to like Phoenix, but they are the Vampire Weekend of France and they bore the hell out of me.” (I said this before Vampire Weekend’s lead singer joined the band for a number! – DAMN!)
“This really needs to move along.”
“Just because you’re athletically talented doesn’t mean you can dance.”
“I liked the piano and opera number, and am grateful that they didn’t bring in Elton John to completely ruin it.”
So, the atmosphere here was, to put it mildly, irreverent.
I hope that everyone found a moment in the Olympics to enjoy. For me, it was Kristen Faulkner’s attack during the women’s cycling road race, which was audacious and inspiring. Post your favorite Olympic moment below!
