  1. Tiffany (who?) Trump’s Mar-a-Lago wedding is being covered lavishly in the New York Post. Amid all the stories, and there are many, there is not one mention, let alone a photograph, of anyone anyone has ever heard of attending. I think that’s telling. I’ve been to weddings where the father of the bride uses the occasion to show off and reward his connections. Not in this case, it doesn’t look like. They hired some no-name band. The photos of the reception are scant and it doesn’t look like many people are there. No one was posing for photos entering. All very interesting. Granted, Palm Beach was under a hurricane warning, but can you imagine if this Grand Guignol had taken place four years ago at the White House?

    • Captain Combover is scheduled to announce his run for president in 2024 on Tuesday night. Republican “dignitaries” have been invited, and scuttlebutt is that the orange man is going to be making a list and checking it twice. It’s going to be very interesting to see which GQP toadies show up and abase themselves and lick his boots, and which ones stay away because they’ve caught the scent of weakness.

It’s going to be a gathering of invertebrates, quivering with the desire to be stroked by a gibbering orange baboon. Should be fun!

  2. I really don’t mean to further politicize a music thread and provide no tunes, but perhaps lost in all the excitement is that 2022 might be the year we finally get to write the “Snowbilly Elegy” to Caribou Barbie’s future political aspirations:

And in Alaska, it looks the Democratic incumbent Mary Peltola will hold on to her seat after she defied the odds and became the first Alaska Native to be elected to Congress in an August special election, beating former Gov. Sarah Palin. The ranked-choice voting race is still too close to call. [Sarah Palin is in a distant second place during this current go-round. If Peltola doesn’t get 50% of first-choice votes they then start factoring in second-choice votes.]

    • It’s beyond bizarre that the person who managed to torpedo John McCain’s campaign still somehow thinks that she is a viable force in politics. The amount of self-delusion in Republican politics is unbelievable. I guess they think that no one can remember more than about 3 months back, which is exactly how Republicans got hammered in this election. No, assholes, telling 52% of the population that their rapist has more rights than they do and that they are required to die of sepsis from an unviable pregnancy is somehow not a winning strategy.

Cousin Matthew, I blame you. Don’t get me wound up.
