Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Malagueña Salerosa

Malagueña Salerosa‘, or ‘La Malagueña’, but not ‘Malagueña‘, is an old Mexican song about a man telling a woman (from Málaga, Spain) how beautiful she is, and how he would love to be her man, but that he understands her rejecting him for being too poor. In the first video the song is performed by Chingón, a band formed by film director Robert Rodriguez to record songs for his 2003 film ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’:

Chingon’s performance was, also, featured on Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill, Volume 2’ (2004). In the second video the song is performed by ‘Los Panchos (Trio)‘:

  1. Delbert McClinton – Down Into Mexico

I met Delbert once, when he was a guest on a client’s radio program. He was promoting this album, Cost of Living. The inside artwork is all of his drivers license pictures going all the way back to when he was 16. The host of the program asked Delbert about it, and Delbert said it was so everyone could see his cost of living:) He’s a good guy. Super easy going and personable. If you get a chance to catch him live, I definitely recommend it.
