Deadsplinter Up! All Night: New To You

Moving outside the tried and true

I’ve been listening to a lot of the same music lately. Funny how when many of us get out of our 20s or early 30s, we stop looking for the shiny new things, although I know that many folks in here are the exceptions to that.

So I challenged myself to find new stuff via YouTube, and here’s what I came up with, plus my first thoughts. Didn’t have to be recently released stuff, just new to me. Throw down with something you’ve recently discovered below.

I would play drums for Horsegirl. I would even dye my hair to seal the deal. They seem like modern girls…
Double sax attack? BOLD.
I’ll bet they’re not really architects.
I don’t know who Loretta is, but I feel sorry for her right now.
I saw these guys open for The Cult in October. It was a weird match. Needs more guitar.

As always, thank you for supporting my 24-hour nail salon for ground squirrels Deadsplinter.

  1. Remember the movie “Big?”  Remember the kid who played Tom Hanks’ best friend?  Yeah, that kid put out an album in 2006 with a band called Deal By Dusk.

    • I’m familiar with that song through one of my all-time faves, Cracker:

I did not realize until I looked it up just now that it was written by Jerry Garcia (and Robert Hunter) for one of Garcia’s early ’70s releases.

  2. Some good finds there!  I always appreciate something new to me…

  3. I actually don’t mind Taylor.

Some of it appeals to the teen girl in me.

    • I get that.  There’s a lot worse than Taylor Swift.
