DeadSplinter Up! All Night: Painkiller

Greetings awesome Deadsplinterati!

I hope you are all having a great week so far. Better than me at least. My back is all jacked up from IDK, sleeping funny? Sitting weirdly for too long? Being 47? WHO KNOWS!

But I somehow hurt myself today…

And urgent care gave me some painkillers…

But maybe this kind would be better…

They also gave me some muscle relaxers…

Thanks for your continued support of DUAN and Deadsplinter!

    • When I was a senior in high school the administration VERY unwisely decided to let the student body vote for what the Prom song should be. This came in second. In first place was the Who’s “Teenage Wasteland.” I forget what the other songs proposed were but they went with number 6, and though I remember it was number 6 I can’t remember what the song actually was, probably a syrupy slow dance.

I only know this because one of my cronies was the Student Council President and she spilled the beans.

      • One of my readily accessible bits of trivia (which was admittedly more impressive before smartphones) was to offer up that the actual title of The Who song is “Baba O’Riley”, named in part after spiritual guru Meher Baba and musician Terry Riley. The track was originally intended to be part of a rock opera follow-up to Tommy.

        • I had totally forgotten that! In my high school there was a girl (young woman I guess you’d say now) named Barbara O'[name redacted] who was immediately dubbed Baba O’Riley.

  1. Did your doctor prescribe this?

I love how the Rolling Stones were such chainsmokers that they couldn’t go three minutes without a cigarette. Although maybe that was just part of their bad boys’ image.

  2. How could I not include this album title?

Happy Mondays – Pills, Thrills And Bellyaches

Speaking of bitter PiLs to swallow:

    Public Image Ltd, “Rise”
