Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Pit of Darkness

Fighting the blues

A screen capture from a Kids in the Hall skit.
Screen capture from YouTube.

My SAD has really kicked in this month. So I’m trying my best to fight it with as much outdoor activity as possible on these Arctic, short days. Also, my reading/watching habits are gravitating toward more active stuff — workout videos, running videos, etc., for – hopefully – some inspiration.

What are you guys doing to battle the winter blues?

  1. PS: I wrote this last week in the midst of gray and bitterly cold days. Lo and behold, on Sunday it was warm enough that I could go out and replace the oil in one car and replace the battery in the other. I love doing stuff like that after a cold/dark spell.

  2. i dont mind the dark……but the endless gray gets to me after a while

seriously…im fine with 16 hours of night……just gimme a little blue skies and sunshine for some of the other 8

And Canada is an oil-producing country. It’s the onerous taxes. Yeah, I get it, we should all bicycle everywhere and by not driving we’re saving the whales or something, but honestly, when it’s below freezing, even the snuggest Roots clothing won’t keep you warm when you’re cruising around the St. Lawrence River or skating on the Rideau Canal. I don’t know how the Canadians do it. And I grew up when we had real winters, like we’re (briefly) experiencing now, and I don’t know how I did it.
