Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Poetry

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour

Tonight’s DUAN is brought to you by Erato, the Muse of Poetry. Or at least the muse of lyric poetry. If I remember correctly, Calliope is the muse of epic poetry, but she’s outside of tonight’s purview. Plus, Erato is way hotter and plays the harp. So give us those songs whose lyrics you find particularly poetic.

Thank you for coming out for DUAN and for supporting Deadsplinter. You’re good people. In fact, I could compare thee to a Summer’s day, but I don’t want to embarrass you.

[By the way, I happen to think Johnny Mercer’s lyrics for Skylark (music by Hoagy Charmichael, see below) is the finest lyric of the 20th century. Mercer knew how to make words do stuff.]

  1. The 24th US poet laureate is a resident of my fair city. It would be remiss of me to not post a reading in tonight’s DUAN.

  2. My favorite part of US3 is that they combine jazz, hip hop, and poetry…

sorry, these ones are not the happiest of music but important messages…
