It’s a weird holiday, isn’t it? If you don’t think so, check the Wiki for it to see that not everybody is “officially” honoring the same guys. Weird.
Hopefully you had today off. Regardless, I hope it was a good day for you.

Louis Jordan – Jordan for President
Randy Newman – Mr President (Have Pity On The Working Man)
This song came out after Reagan was elected, as a sort of twofer about him and Thatcher.
The creepy self hater Grover Norquist tried to create a million and one different commemorations of Reagan after he died, including a Ronald Reagan Day in February, until Nancy Reagan (to her credit) told Norquist to stop trying to fund raise off of Reagan’s memory.
These:
The name of the holiday (and the folks being celebrated!) being different everywhere surprised me a bit, because–sort of like learning how apparently *strange* our calling soft drinks “Pop,” or the game “Duck, Duck, Greyduck” are–the idea that *other places* don’t celebrate the obvious thing (the fact that the holiday *always* falls in between Lincoln’s & Washington’s birthdays, so we celebrate*BOTH* men!)–is just a bit wild!
As a Minnesota kid, you just grow up “knowing” that it celebrates both of them…
And then, in your late 40’s apparently, you learn that *your state* is the only one that celebrates them, and does so, by (Properly!!!) apostrophizing both men’s names separately!
