Seattle has always had a very rich and diverse music scene. From Quincy Jones to Jimi Hendrix to Kurt Cobain, so many different music styles have been represented. A very overlooked time in our music history was that short stretch referred to as post punk/pre-grunge. Sub Pop is our most recognized music label but the one that covers this genre the best is actually Green Monkey Records. If you want to explore this strange and magical time, I would recommend the album “It Crawled From The Basement”. The album is a mix of misfit bands, problem children, most of which are long forgotten (with the exception of The Green Pajamas). My favorite band of that time was Prudence Dredge & these are the only songs from them I can find that exist on YouTube.
That’s all this self proclaimed problem child of the DUAN staff has for you tonight.
