Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Put It On

Ayo, Loveshaq’s rap DUAN reminded me how much I like ‘freestyle rap’. One of the best freestyle rappers I know is the late ‘Big L‘. I’ll embed the first three tracks from his 1995 debut album ‘Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous’.

‘Put It On is the first track (and lead single):

“MVP’ is the second track (and second single):

and ‘No Endz, No Skinz’ is the third track:

And here are the other 9 tracks of the ‘Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous’ (Jay-Z has a verse ‘Da Graveyard’):

R.I.P. Big L.

Thank you for your continued support of Deadsplinter.

  1. Cool stuff Earendil! I actually was not familiar w/ Big L. I’ll have to check out some more of it. I’ve seen this guy freestyle & was pretty damn good at it. Del tha Funky Homosapien – Mistadobalina

  2. I wanted to love hip hop, I really did. I watched “Yo!” every day, sometimes twice. The problem was, I latched onto Public Enemy and they were so many light years ahead of everybody else(and frankly some 30+ years later they still are) that no one else could really suffice (Eric B and Rakim were a distant 2nd, sorry Chuck). That’s why I’ve come to the only reasonable conclusion: PE was metal as fuck and disguised it by rapping, as evidenced by their lifting this Slayer riff:
