Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Recycling

Disposable Culture

One of my current jobs as house-duder (that’s the term I made up for it, not great) is the czar of recycling here at Casa de Memeweaver. Our community has a surprisingly robust curbside pickup: plastics, cardboard/paper, aluminum and metal, compost. I have to take glass separately to a large bin at a local grocery store.

What are you able to recycle in your communities?

  1. Anything I can shove into a blue bin?

    Joking… sort of.

Pretty much anything except certain plastics, food containters, wood and broken china/pyrex. They pay folks to do the sorting in my municipality.

  2. pretty much same as yours over here…bins go out every 2 weeks…ish…well..the orange bin for recycling goes out every 2 weeks anyways..green bin for garden/food waste likewise…but only for spring/summer…once a month out of gardening season..paper and general waste also once a month with a couple extra pickups around xmas

and pretty much every neighbourhood has a bigly container for glass recycling…my nearest one happens to be at the supermarket so..thats convenient…and thats also where i can drop off spent batterries (by law any place what sells batteries/electronics also has to take them back for recycling)
